9am - German Soccer
12pm - Big Ten Game
3pm - MLB Game
6pm - Big 12/PAC-12 game or UFC
9pm - UFC or PAC-12 game

won't be able to have 3 hour blocks like that. MLB couldn't start until 4pm most likely and then next college football game wouldn't start until 730 or 8 at the earliest.

Thanks...I was going to look it up. You beat me to it. That was 2 years ago on a Thursday right?

Yeah. Harbaugh's 1st game at Michigan(tough to believe this is year 3 for him at Michigan, isn't it?)

Yeah it is...by the way, what school do you root for? Not trolling, I thought you rooted for a certain ACC school, now I'm wondering if I was wrong?

I love College Football in general. I have been an Alabama fan for a long time. Always thought the ACC was way overrated quite frankly- though I must admit these last 4-5 years, they've really improved a lot.

And a lot of folks on here are spinning it where that would be the case, and it's just not by any stretch of the imagination. We all know you hate ESPN, but the packages are far closer than folks on here want to make it seem....

Also, for the weeks that are close, you won't see the specific games announced at this point of the year at all. So if say ESPN drafts a late week, and there's 2 good looking games now, ESPN would get to make the selection much later in the season. So lets say ESPN gets week 12 as a pick. Got 2 really good looking matchups possible- Michigan/Wisconsin or Nebraska/Penn St. ESPN could wait until a week before the games to declare which one they want. Odds pretty good one of those games will wimp out.

The odds are pretty darn good that Fox and ESPN ratings wise for the season will be pretty darn close. My only question is this- is it worth 50 million extra for a CCG and a negligible difference in regular season ratings?

Why do you keep acting like everyone is saying that? The majority are not saying that at all. Thats your straw man. Thats the argument you set up to spin this into some great win for ESPN like they somehow one upped Fox here. Fox gets first choice every year. Thats big for them because every year of this contract they get OSU/Michigan. Thats great for their brand.

They don't get to wait a week before the games are played to pick. The picks are made well in advanced of the games being played. You are completely talking out of your ass.
No I am not. The weeks are picked well in advance, but not the specific games(sounds like the week draft has already taken place quite frankly). The specific games are selected either 6 or 12 days before the game takes place.

if Fox takes OSU/Michigan, that's fine. ESPN gets 1st crack at ANY OOC game the Big Ten hosts. That's often times a HUGE game, especially with consideration to the 2nd best game on that early season weekend, when a lot of teams are playing dog teams.

Well thats if they want that, then Fox can get that PSU-Michigan game you have such a hard on for.
Well, looks like Fox took Ohio St/Penn St and Notre Dame/Michigan St based on what they released this week. So it seems like ESPN will get the PSU/Michigan game(and the Saturday before the World Series starts), AND Ohio St/Oklahoma. And they would have a 3rd top choice as well.

Bottom line, the regular season packages are going to be pretty much dead equal. I know you don't want to hear that, but that is reality.

So they picked the games already not a week before the games? Hmmm

Notre Dame/Michigan St is so early that it gets announced early...

As far as Ohio St/Penn St- while officially they don't have that game yet- the other games that week are:
Indiana @ Maryland, Rutgers @ Michigan, Michigan St @ Northwestern, Wisconsin @ Illinois, Minnesota @ Iowa, Nebraska @ Purdue. So it's pretty damn easy to say they are going to take 2 top 10 teams playing each other when the other 6 games are complete and utter junk.

RE: Fox gets OSU vs Michigan and other marquee matchups
So the conference money numbers are up and running:payouts from 1st to last

1.SEC: ESPN, SEC network owned 100% by espn, and the CBS game of week.

2. PAC: ESPN, Fox/Pac12network owned 100% by PAC

3.Big 10/Fox, BTN owned 50% by big 10

4.Big 12: ESPN/Fox, big 12 owns their own 3rd tier rights

5. ACC: ESPN owns 100% of the ACC (tier 3 rights as well) including 100% of the proposed ACC network until 2036.

The SEC is first by far in money, the PAC with its 100% ownership of the PACN, is second.

The Ohio State-Michigan game is enormous. That game beat the SEC Championship game on the same day by 50% in the ratings.

That game last year was a once in a lifetime type of game. Odds pretty good that scenario won't happen in these next 6 years. Oh, and also, the SEC championship game was the next week.

BUT, the odds are pretty good that ABC/ESPN will get an OOC game #2 that beats the doors off of the game on Fox that particular day. That's the thing about it. By ESPN getting the #2/4/6/8 choice of weeks to pick #1 in the season, ESPN is going to have a really nice package. ESPN isn't getting scraps while Fox is getting filet.
