Conference basketball tournament in Frisco.

They'll be lucky to have 750 people at these games. Much rather an 8-team field with the highest seed hosting. Might actually boost attendance and make the regular season somewhat meaningful.

Calm down, everyone. This is fake news unless the car dealerships can confirm its validity......

Rock, what are you hearing locally about this silly tournament idea in Frisco, TX?

Noooo, it's great, people who don't drive tractors are already booking their flights.

OK, Rock....the tractor comment might have been a poor example.....I apologize. I enjoy your thoughts and opinions as much as the next guy.

Here is the whole story from what you may or may not know.....

CUSA is leveraging access to The Star to help brand our conference with the limited resources and funds we have. Partnering with the top sports team in the world and using their brand new billion dollar complex is a win for CUSA and USM. We already have the major tournament sponsor locked up with Baylor Scott & White. Truth be told, CUSA is going to follow the steps of the Southland Conference and move its headquarters to Frisco in the near future as well. They will end up hosting other CUSA Championships in Frisco (including baseball at one of the highest awarded minor league ballparks in the nation). Its about destination and the best facility access going forward. Frisco currently has 6 BILLION in active projects under construction within a 1 mile radius of The Star. The amount of Fortune 500 companies that are investing in Frisco and Plano are driving the demand for state of the art venues, hotels and entertainment. They also have a new college bowl game and are currently building the Soccer Hall of Fame one mile from The Star. Its an innovative move for a conference that doesn't take chances and sticks with old rotations like Birmingham.

BeagleUSM, it will draw better than El Paso and Birmingham. Frisco has hosted several NCAA events over the past 11 years. I have attended the 1 AA football championship games that bring in almost 20K from small schools located thousands of miles from Frisco. I attended div 1 regular season college baseball tournaments in Frisco that drew thousands as well.

It wont be long before other conferences try to jump CUSA and use these facilities for the same tournaments. They are also expanding Toyota Stadium in Frisco. I would not be surprised if the CUSA Football championship is moved there as well. Seeing that WKU drew like 14K....if that...its not a big risk for CUSA to go with a neutral location for football as well in the future.
