WAC Spring meetings this week.
Expansion, contraction, 2017-18 tourney hosts, .....?

If you could ask your AD (or anyones AD) or Hurd any question, what would it be? (Any question, whether it COULD be answered or not) Comments too.

Currently mobile....away from the house or on "the throne."

RE: WAC Spring meetings this week.
I would love to know all the tournament hosts.
Although I would love a timetable moving forward, I know that nothing about expansion really can be discussed. Maybe some general plan though.
ie.
2017-2018 - Cal Baptist
2019-2020 - another DII move-up.

I know it's Vegas next year. WAC schools brought lot's more fans last year. Almost 2500 for the WAC championship game. I still say would rather see game in Phoenix at GCU arena.

On a school level, I'd love to know if there is a plan for a bit of shade next year at the baseball stadium.

On a conference level, like Rob, I'm always interested in the tourney sites.
Also, even though I know it really cant be officially discussed, Id like to know which schools have had conversations with the WAC. Membership conversations of any type ranging from very casual to serious. I'm sure there were/are some that will never come to fruition of membership, but still curious. And within that of course would be any UCSD discussion, which I'm sure we'd all be interested in.

On conference tourney sites, my idea would have a WAC school be the "host", but the games get played at neutral site courts in a local arena and everything like that.
On the topic of expansion, I would love know if Chi St administration sees the possibility of them having a program beyond this year and if they don't, I would love to add two west coast teams, whether they are DI or DII, to keep a centralized western base.

Just a general expansion plan and what they are looking for in a school to add them. I think Vegas is a fine place for the tournament. A perfect neutral site.

Right. Phx is....that much farther from Bako and closer to LC.

I guess I was more talking about all WAC sport championship sites. I know that MBB and Baseball are the two with the highest profile, but more time to allow families and teams to plan usually means less money spent on travel for sports like golf, track, cross country etc.

I think GCU is hosting all the tournaments next year, not including Basketball and Baseball.

If it is ever at GCU for basketball that would be stupid. Don't give a home court advantage to a team that might not even be a one seed. That would be ridiculous. Protect top seeds don't make them play in a hostile environment.

If GCU ever hosted, I would much rather they did it downtown where the Suns play. That's more what I was referring to. I don't think anyone should have home court for a one-bid league.

Well they wouldn't build a tournament course and charge cheap green fees for nothing!

That would still be absurd. The place would be sold out for GCU fans. Vegas is where it should stay imo.

UMKC still has to host it twice, at least that is what Hurd promised them.

Yep, that was part of the agreement to get them to join.

That is what happens when a conference was desperate.

I would be surprised if that still happened.

If I was Herd, I wouldn't give it to them until they actually got people to show up for games. If your own fans aren't excited about the team, then why should the rest of the fans be forced to travel to the mid-west to watch them play in an important tourney.

It makes me wonder what Hurd promised to CBU.

Probably not much this was CBU's only shot at D1 and they took it.
