The rendering of the glass looks fantastic, but pretty cool to hear that changes have been going on inside for a couple years now and this is the icing on the cake. It looks like the one area on the rendering is going to be an outdoor terrace area.

I love the UT library. It was my favorite place to study...5th floor, specifically.

I am not a fan of any form of segregation in the public spaces whether that be military or any other reason. In the Student Union is one thing; there are traditionally off-campus student spaces, club and student senate spaces.... In the library, I find it derogatory.

There's every reason to imagine the exterior remodel will be gorgeous to look at but when the belt is tight, unless it's done with a specifically targeted donation I don't see it as wise stewardship. It solves no inherent nor explicitly stated problem. It has no returnable function to match the price. And quite honestly a nice feature of a library is a little cloistering. I think I would prefer that to the no-doubt tremendous view it will provide of the tenth Snyder Hall remodel.

Me too. The 4th and 5th floors were great to get away and find a quiet place to write a paper or study for an exam. I am no scholar, but I spent many a long nights in the library.

Stpete, I took this photo for you today with my phone. They have poured new sidewalks on the east side of the building and going to the student union. Still working on railings, landscaping and other concrete work.

Are kids still living in the group study rooms?

Could be another application for some glass walls
