...however that would really put UMKC on an island but they have nowhere else to go so...meh.

Sure they do, back to the Summit.

UMKC could be next. Geez, they took a step down from The Summit and still can't be successful.

I guess they aren't D-I material after all.

I don't think the newly solidified Dakota cabal will allow it...apparently they have the Montana's targeted.

Athletics: We are in our third year of a five year contract with the WAC. Next year, the university will need to discuss moving forward with conference. Athletics requests are part of the contract, Tennis needs an assistant coach, would like lights for the courts, night time play. Soccer fields needs to be built and basketball court needs floor replacement for safety. WAC requirement calls for a Director of Basketball, a Head Coach for Men’s Soccer, and the renovation of the outdoor track; our facility does not currently meet WAC requirements. Coaches total cost is $100,000 total; this is our are #1 priority. Currently, we are Division 1, we may want to study the benefits of being Division 1 or another division.

Despite multiple requests to clarify CSU's status since, Jeff Hurd has been noncommittal since then. Here was the first attempt to get an answer in 2016 by a Las Cruces reporter

https://twitter.com/mrudi19/status/708472879411646464

He was equally noncommittal and vague to a NYT reporter 6 months later. And all requests for clarification since have not been answered. Of the record either he or a member of his staff told the NYT reporter that CSU was not in compliance with their WAC contract on several issues from staffing to safety.

Hurd gave very different, effusive and complete answers about how UT-RGV has passed it's contract term in flying colors, giving praise and saying how everyone in the league was impressed at how far they have come. It is very clear the non comments from Hurd speak loudly about the less than secure state of Chicago State in the WAC. But the league has to play it out for another year before Cal Baptist comes on board. So do not expect a direct answer until Spring next year.

So You think the WAC is going to kick Chicago State out because they have not built a soccer field? The WAC is fully aware of the Illinois State Budget Crisis that Chicago State and every other public school is going through. Jeff Hurd is monitoring the situation at Chicago State because of the state budget crisis. The WAC is aware that they cannot move forward on things without money. It is the same thing Tom Douple, Summit League Commissioner, has stated about Western Illinois University. He is monitoring the situation at WIU. About all you can do.

The State of Illinois bond rating has been lowered to one step above junk:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/...-stalemate

"Illinois hasn’t had a full year budget in place for the past two years amid a clash between the Democrat-run legislature and Republican Governor Bruce Rauner. That’s left the fifth most-populous state with a record $14.5 billion of unpaid bills, ravaged entities like universities and social service providers that rely on state aid and undermined Illinois’s standing in the bond market, where investors have demanded higher premiums for the risk of owning its debt. Moody’s called Illinois “an outlier among states” after suffering eight downgrades in as many years."

Chicago State is not delinquent. They don't owe money to the WAC. They have not build a soccer field and hired a soccer coach. The WAC already has 11 soccer schools, with a 12th coming on board in 2018.
They really don't need Chicago State soccer.

Targeted maybe. Or it could just be something their fans would like to see. I don't see the Montanas leaving a conference where they are king to play 2nd fiddle to the Dakota 4.

It was a TIC comment. The Montana's have nothing to gain from being in a Dakota centered conference. Such a move would limit what little potential they have left at the FCS level. Besides, why would they leave a conference in which they are already calling the shots?
