RE: Will the P5 pull out of NCAA in 2024?
If the P5 conferences and Notre Dame leaves? They will take several schools with them.
Army, Navy and Air Force will come along.
Colorado State, New Mexico, UNLV and UNR are sure going because of their academics.
Boise State, San Diego State and Hawaii would go for their football or destination.
UTEP, UTSA, Houston, SMU and Rice would be going because Texas and the other P5 Texas schools do want some body bag games.
North Dakota State because of their strong football and basketball and an R2 research. I think they would grab South Dakota State as well.
Tulane because of their AAU status.
Buffalo, Toledo and Northern Illinois could be brought with them for academics or strong football that people would watch on tv.
UConn, UCF and USF for their reasons.
East Carolina because of their fan base.
Old Dominion have a strong academics and good athletic department.
UMass. could get an AAU status not too far in the future.
UC-Davis as part of the little brother of the PAC 12, but their academics is on par.
Eastern Washington, Montana and Montana State are strong candidates for the P5 to pull from since they do have good football. Eastern Washington plays the PAC 12 north schools pretty strong. Beat Washington State and Oregon STate. Almost beat Washington and Oregon.
Stony Brook a fellow AAU school, could be a future strong football candidate for any of the P5 conferences.
Georgia State and Georgia Southern could go because the state have a large population wise that could support 4 schools. Georgia Southern more of the south eastern and south Georgia as the three of the others are in the northern half.
Maine, Delaware, New Hampshire, URI, Vermont, Alaska, all would have a team as part of the group.
For hockey? I could see they would bring all the schools that have hockey with them. NCAA D1 hockey would be dead. If Lindenwood adds a men's hockey team? They would already be part of the group because of their women's hockey. Would Central Oklahoma go as well if they turned the club team as a varsity team? Minot State and Simon Fraser could be added as well. Any Canadian schools be welcome to be part of this group?
Could some other D1 schools for other sports joining them?
Johns Hopkins, Case Western Reserve, Carnegie Mellon, Emory, Dallas Baptist, the Big East, Sewanee, U. of Chicago and so forth.
If they do, they could do away with conferences and go into regions with a nationwide tv network.
