Even with all his flaws, he's the best short, quick passer we've had for the last 3 years. It doesn't concern me Santa or Childers haven't beaten him out in practice, come game time, one of those two will seize the job.

If they get game time. That might be the issue.

So you're set on Graham being the man? Is that because we know his floor and ceiling(it's a ranch) and we don't know it of either of the other two? I'm prepared for Graham to be the starter, but I just see a whole bunch of 30 to 40 yard drives and a punt. There's just no big-play in that guy and it's hard to go 15 play-80 yard drives with just short outs and underneath crossing routes.

I'm not saying I'd agree with it. But if Graham looks the best in practice it's very possible that he gets the nod even with the limited upside that we can all see. I mean, it happened last year when Hare went down. And it wouldn't be until failure in games that we'd then get a look at somebody else.

Due to work load, missed some of the most ridiculous posts that prove some posters immediately dismiss anything they don't agree with.

From NIU32:
NIU's very own beat writer tells Nebraska we suck, poised for our worst season in 10 years and our program seems to be a complete dumpster fire. Couldn't have been a more negative article. Wish this Seversen guy would go back to Oregon and we could get someone like John Sahly or Steve Nitz like we had for many years before. Dude, are you able to comprehend what you read? Seversen quite fairly says each guy does something kind of well but nothing elite. That's accurate.
...the Huskies will likely gear towards a run-oriented offense... Huff is a home run hitter. On defense, Northern Illinois brings back a deep and talented secondary. inexperience at linebacker and on the defensive line are concerns.
WHERE DOES HE SAY WE SUCK OR CALL IT A COMPLETE DUMPSTER FIRE?
Sahly and Nitz came to DeKalb from elsewhere and it's a safe bet they would agree with Seversen that "Nebraska is going to have the edge, it's a Power Five school and a good Power Five school. ... Nebraska should take care of NIU regardless. But football is kind of a funny thing, you don't know what's going to happen."

BDB5yp says: "Why do we hire guys that don't know Huskies culture?"
What's this "we" crap? Since when do fans get to hire anyone to cover a team at any level? A good number of posters on here are clueless when it comes to "Huskies culture"!

NIU32 comes back with: "This writer is a stooge. You can be fair and realistic without interviewing with opposing teams media and trashing the program you cover. Especially with NIU being a mid-major, you need positive press more than anyone. Like someone mentioned before, this guy is an outsider who took this job until something better opens up. Seversen would be better served tweeting updates from DeKalb and Sycamore HS cross country meets. That suits him much better. Let the poster who runs Huskies Unleased cover NIU. Somebody actually interested in NIU sports that may just put out something that NIU fans actually want to read.

Regardless of P5 or mid-major, everyone would like positive press, but a legitimate beat writer's job description does not say "promote the local team, put a positive spin on everything, don't question things." That's the job for NIU Media Relations. Do you not understand the difference? Sahly and Nitz took the job until something better opened up. They also covered arguably better NIU teams with better players and better coaches. Tell the guy running Huskies Unleased to apply for the job. Highly doubt you actually subscribe to The Daily Chronicle and that's your option, but get realistic and understand that not everyone sees things through your NIU-red colored glasses while sipping Huskie Kool-Aid.

Did you read Dog Fan's post?
IMO, there are way too many question marks to say NIU will be better. And we lost some quality players from a 5 - 7 team. At this point, there is nothing to suggest to me that NIU will be better....except hope. Sorry to tell you, but more posters on here who actually know Huskie Culture agree with Dog Fan.

Wow, you definitely put a lot of work into this response lol. I guess we disagree and that's fine. I'm glad you enjoy Seversen and his work. I'll work on studying up on the difference between all these job descriptions and try to take off my NIU red colored glasses.

If this is the writers view, so be it. I found it to be a little lazy. Yes, the WR position is lacking a big play guy. It also lacked one heading into 2015. He said we are a running team with QB questions, yet he's concerned about the WRs??? He said the O-line lacks seniors? That's his big take? They don't lack starts. That's more important. You have the best RT and C in the MAC. The highest O-line recruit you've ever landed breaking into the line-up. There's a stable of RBs and their going to struggle to score? In the MAC? No way. Yes, against Nebraska and Maybe BC. But cmon, the MAC? It felt like a writer who didn't want to step-out in the presence of a big time program. It's easy to say Lurry is good. Huff is good. Sharping is good. Is that really an insider preview? I'm sure Nebraska fans would like to here about guys who COULD have a big impact in the game or breakout year. A Wimann, Mister, Wesley...or Corcoran, Johnson, Smith.

Can you explain how knowing "Huskie culture" makes one better at evaluating the quality of a football team please? I haven't seen anyone predict more than 8 wins on here. No one is saying this team is great, or even really good. Just that it has potential in a lot of places. Unfortunately, QB isn't one of them, but the MAC hands you 5 wins a year almost. It's not exactly stepping out.

Anyone who saw the 2015 Spring Game knew that we were not lacking a big play WR going into the season.
