http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/...170425.pdf

Note: This is only the playoff distribution for the conferences and doesn't include basketball credits or the conference's TV distribution or other non-CFP bowls.

Total amount increased 15.7 million from last years.
$440.7 Million vs last year of $425 million.

This can't include the payouts from the Sugar, Rose, or Orange Bowls. I mean- Sugar and Rose are supposed to be 40 million for the 4 conferences, and Orange is supposed to be 27.5 million to ACC and Big Ten.

Yes, you are correct. The Rose, Orange and Sugar has separate payout for each bowls to each conference.

Also, I believe that those separate payouts only occur when they are not hosting a playoff. So this up coming season with the Rose and Sugar hosting, the PAC, B1G, Big and SEC won't be getting those $40 million payouts from the bowls themselves.

Wow. For anyone other than Notre Dame---it sucks to be indy. The G5 gets about 21% of the total CFP payout to divide among the 5 conferences (or about 4.2% of the total per each G5 conference on average). Each P5 conference gets about 16% of the total (on average). Other than Notre Dame, the typical indy school gets less than 1/10th of one percent.

If they can make access bowl a few times and a Orange Bowl- for the 12 year period, they'd be averaging probably real close to the others. They get that 2.92 million regardless.

Here how it breaks down on the $440.7 million.

P5 = 78% ($342.9 million)

G5 = 21% ($91.5 million)

ND, FCS, FBS Indy = 1% ($6.3 million)

RE: 2016 - 2017 CFP Distribution by Conference
So, if my math is correct, when you add the contract bowls, these are the per school payouts for each of the P5 conferences:

B12....$10.115M
B1G.....$9.890M
PAC.....$9.159M
SEC.....$7.977M
ACC.....$6.908M

Without expanding, the Big 12 isn't doing too badly.

If you add in the contract bowls, the P5's share grows to 85%.

That may have played a role in why they didnt expand. Even with the pro-rate contact clause and a graduated share for the newbies--they still might have ended up showing little extra income due to the extra splits for other sources of income (CFP money/bowl income/NCAA credits/etc).

There are some G5 schools worth more than others. I think there should be some type of a bonus for those schools that do well in viewers should get a special bonus.
