The Recruiting Forum
Just a few weeks ago, this forum had information and less "cuteness". I liked it better then.

RE: The Recruiting Forum
Can we get an example of "cuteness".

I think part of the problem is a couple of weeks ago we were in the peak of activity. Now the main targets have been signed by us or others and things are slowing down, for good or bad.

Hoopdreams is gone--some may not have agreed with him, but that's pretty irrelevant when it comes to forum flow and who he engages in his discussions.

It's boring now especially with no real inside info being spread.

Hoops and Saluki did their homework.
E'wood had insight based on connections and experience.

People agreed/disagreed got engaged in the action. Fiery stuff happened.

The cuteness as you describe is a big part of why I'm cutting way back. It's incredibly not fun to repeat the repeat of the repeat. If the place is going to be a tear down Tubby place all summer, well I'm not interested. If and when I see or hear of some recruiting news that I can share, I will post.

Speaking on recruiting, my opinion is I would hang on to the three plus the one we will get with Rivers being a senior and have 4 for the 2018 class. I would only sign grad transfers at this point.

there is someone here that I get plenty of info from. I just don't have to read it from the board. All folks need is to know the right people. I talk recruiting almost daily, but I do it on the phone.

He had an agenda but also gave us good recruiting info on individuals who were available. If he is gone he will be missed.

I do think when we lose a recruit we only need to see it in one thread then move on.

Yeah, I guess that's one way to look at it.

Or, one could argue that a lot of fluff/filler bologna is gone. And, the fewer threads are actually discussing substantive information, in a friendly manner.

Some say potato. Some say potato.

But you realize the only thing we are talking about now is the recruits we missed because we haven't scored on any.

Someone could start a discussion about all the teams who are now recruiting Memphis because of Tubby's laissez faire de memphis attitude.

O wait...that's been done by another sports writer. It ain't purty, btw.
The last year under Tubby's watch is very telling when it comes to which colleges are now recruiting Memphis. Part of the Head Coach's job is to guard his own territory, imo.

OK...Now. Y'all have something substantive that will engage you: The value of recruiting Memphis kids over the drawbacks.

shrug. Have at it.

RE: The Recruiting Forum
The only recruit any school and coach can lose are the ones they offered a scholarship to. So if someone here is saying we lost player A, but we never offered player A a scholarship...we didn't lose that player. And furthermore that poster either doesn't know jack or they have an agenda.

This is a forum of people who don't know jack and the ones who think they know jack, with the ones who know a little jack interspersed.

I think people don't understand what being a "fan" is . . . A lot of people on here feel like if you are a fan you need to back anything and everything that goes on in the program. There are some people on here who I've only heard positives from . . . How can there be ONLY positives with a program that is in such shambles (I mean there are some on here who don't even think it's in shambles). Fans don't need to agree with everything going on in a program. You want a positive outta me? At least we won't lack depth next year . . . There you go, a positive from me.

smart, talented people are paid a lot of money to run our athletic department and individual sports.

let Rudd, Bowen, and Tubby do their jobs.

No need to disparage Jack like that. He's not a bad guy.
