It's a stretch but my entry would be NC State. They have the tunnels in the middle of campus that run under the CSX (I think) line, US 1 runs by the Vet School and I-40 runs by the Vet school, Carter-Finely Stadium and the PNC Arena.

Unless it's changed since, I remember during orientation (or CHOICES) I was told JMU is the only campus to have a major interstate, train track, and creek run through it, and that was before there was much on the other side of S. Main, so you can add the US Route there too!

Some corn and a creek...add a little sugar and some yeast

BTW, the start of the game is delayed, still in the top of the 10th 4all.

If the issues began at the Godwin tracks, the train traveled at least a mile dragging track behind it. I have a feeling someone is a former railroad employee today.....

The only good news is that I don't have to worry for a couple of days about being stopped by the train at the Pilgrim's Pride feed mill on Mt. Clinton Pike when I am on my way to work....hate when my timing is bad.

That's what you get when you legalize weed in some states......

Glad it is getting fixed quickly, otherwise there could be a lot of hungry chickens and turkeys. I know, I used to help feed and kill them. I had an office right next to the Cargill mill (then Rocco) for almost 5 years.

Lots of old universities up north have train tracks to bring in coal for the central steam plants.

They may be able to get the line off campus, but never out of town because of the feed mills. The line in Harrisonburg is actually a spur. The main rail line through the Valley runs on the other side through Elkton down to Waynesboro.

SHOW ME THE MONEY!

Be bold and be specific, we will win no less than _____ games next season. It's okay to be conservative, but give me something to hold onto.

Can I at least wait to see the schedule first? I mean, if we play Eastern Mennonite 30 times, I like our chances to finish over .500. :>)

For now, I'll let The Gap Band advise what they think...

I ask simply because I don't have a clue what to expect, I am hoping for success and a long tenure for Lou and JMU MBB. But HOPE is all I have.

Well, hopefully thru next season we will all begin to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Until then, Rowe and crew will just keep chugging along.

As long as the topic is off the tracks, anyone know if the main tracks through town ( that roughly parallel Route 11) are still in use for freight? I remember when I was in school they ran from Staunton to at least the Winchester area. The Union Station restaurant is roughly where the passenger depot used to be when the city still had that service.

Hopefully, the light at the end of the tunnel isn't an oncoming train!

Shows just how much JMU has grown. At one point none of those 3 went through campus..Wasn't it not until the 1950s that JMU expanded across the railroad tracks? And as late as early 90s, it was mostly just the rr tracks, as there wasn't yet much besides the Convo across from I81 or South Main..

Good point.

I'd love to see these guys make SHD useful to the area again, but Frontier made an attempt about four years ago and pulled out. Several other major airlines have attempted.

Realistically, you aren't going to pull many travelers from further south that Staunton/Waynesboro and not much further north than New Market. There's not much west or east to talk about.

If they can manage to keep these cheap fares then students will have interest. I do know that a good friend of mine's daughter has just decided on JMU and lives in the Charlotte area. The family used ViaAir from CLT to SHD and it definitely helped sell them on their daughter coming up to JMU.

RE: OT: Train Derailment in Harrisonburg
I have some fake news to report....President Johnny Alger has made a deal with Norfolk Southern to add more tracks on the JMU campus. Prez Alger states "There simply isn't enough train tracks on the campus, we need more train tracks to get moving to the next level." He continued by stating "if only we can have a train derailment of corn on the campus, we will be able to feed the hungry students for a whole year, we need more train tracks."
