Carlos Cordeiro is the new USSF president and from what I've read he was able to garner the support of the State Associations and Athletes Council. Martino and Wynalda were terrible campaigners! They focused on the media and fans who have no voting power and they should have put more effort into gaining the support of the Athletes Council and State Associations.

In the long run this will hurt development and you will see more dual citizenship go to play outside the u.s. it is also doubtful there will be any kind of change to the pay for play model. The US will continue to struggle to be a top 20-25 team.

I'm not happy with this election however most of the Federations in Europe and South America are run by incompetent and corrupt people. The English FA is basically run by Aristocratic Flunkies, the Head of the Spanish Fa was recently arrested on Bribery and Corruption charges, the Italian FA is run by a bunch of people who are corrupt and Racist! Argentina FA had the National Team flying coach during the Copa America Centenario and they hadn't paid their coaches in nearly a year, the board was keeping most of the money for themselves. Our Federation is a reflection of our country today and that it is dominated by a Corporate Mentality.

It's not just the Athlete's council. The problem is how much power MLS has. US Law requires the Athletes get 20 percent of the vote. US Soccer voluntarily gives MLS 14.9 percent of the vote, AND since they co own a lot of USL and the NWSL, they essentially control those votes as well.

I realized a couple days ago that the only chance we had was Cordiero. Not because he was a good candidate, but that that he would be the only one with enough support to overcome MLS. Carter had 24 percent of the vote locked up before anyone got to Orlando. Maybe if The athletes had sided with Martino, he would have had 30 percent, and the Wynalda camp probably would have switched. But he's still struggling to get to 50, because there was no way MLS would ever vote for anyone not named Carter and Cordiero if forced.

We're giving our top domestic league a quarter of the vote when it comes to USSF. That's just way too much power.

He's managed 10 points out of 12 against teams in 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 8th in the table, and we're still only one point clear of the relegation places.

We seriously would have potentially been 7 or 8 points adrift of safety with even an average run out of those 4 games. He'll have to earn his title the next few weeks though. Swans next 4: @ Brighton, vs West Ham, @ Huddersfield, vs Southampton.

The relegation battle this year is insane. The 3 teams currently in the drop zone, West Brom, Stoke, and Southampton all have what many would say is too much talent to be relegated, yet the newly promoted teams and traditional strugglers are grinding out results far more often. There's 5 points between 18th place Southampton and 10th place Bournemouth.

We might actually have a year where 40 points doesn't guarantee safety.

You know, It's really noteworthy to me that Taylor Twellman, who was perhaps the biggest voice for change within US Soccer within the media immediately after the Trinidad loss, has not tweeted a single thing about the Presidential election. ESPN didn't even assign him to Orlando to cover the thing. It makes me wonder if MLS is leaning on the networks to put a muzzle on some of the more negative press.

I'm also more than a little curious to see what happens to Eric Wynalda now. He's technically "on leave" from Fox Sports, but with the amount they have tied up in MLS and the USMNT, will they let him anywhere near a microphone again? NBC Has already announced Kyle Martino's impending return to the network, but they also don't have any money tied into MLS or US Soccer. Specifically Premier League only.

Hate to rain on your conspiracy parade but NBC/Comcast has money tied into MLS....mainly in local TV deals with the Earthquakes, Fire, Union, and Revs.

Wynalda will be back on Fox Sports and on his WTF show on SiriusXM soon enough. Once his Twitter pity party is finished.

My funniest storyline so far this year in the EPL (outside of Mourinho just doing things) has got to be Soton firing their manager for not keeping up quality and entertaining play despite a top 8 finish, then hiring a guy who proceeds to drop them to the Rel Window and is on pace to score less goals. All the while, the guy they fired is currently coaching Leicester into a Top 8 position while gaining more points on table in 6 less games coached than the guy who replaced him. Mid-table sellers with unreal fan expectations are the gifts that keep on giving
