Red has passed away. Cool guy, I got to meet him a few times. He was 80. Best wishes and prayers to his family.

RE: Red West
Just heard. Very sad. He always struck me as the type of guy you would want to hang out and drink a beer with.

RE: Red West
People think of his acting and stunt work. He wrote several songs for Elvis and had an amazing singing voice. You hear him talk with that rough voice and then when he started singing, you were amazed.

Had the pleasure of visiting him several times when he lived in Bartlett. He had a nice spread that made you forget you were in the city.

RE: Red West
Knew him well. His oldest son played tackle and I played tight end on our elementary and CBHS freshman teams. I would have to leave their house whenever Elvis stopped by. One year I came back and Elvis had dropped off a Lincoln Continental. The next summer Elvis had a pool installed. Red would take me` out to Graceland to play racquetball. Maybe the toughest guy I ever knew.

Last time I spoke with him was while paying for gas at the Mapco/Delta station at Poplar and White Station prolly '84 or '85.

He lived on White Station north of Walnut Grove.
