No, Wunderlich took LF two innings ago after Dunlap batted for Sarchet. Gneiting is the DH this game.

Thanks for the correction, Walt. The Charlotte video announcer apparently was not aware of that.

RE: Rice at Charlotte Friday game
As predicted, Matt has suddenly hit the wall-- getting the leadoff man on a full count pop, but then giving up a HR (on another full count) and single to the bottom of the order. He's falling behind in the count on everyone, and that's a very dangerous situation. He han't missed many bats all game. He started the season striking out over 1.5 batters per IP over his first 5 - 6 games. Now, he's striking out a batter every other inning. Not sure what has happened to his stuff. We were also facing better competition early.

2-out, 3-2 pitch smashed "way out of here" beyond the LF fence.

3-2 now.

After a seeing-eye single to RF through the right-side hole, WG comes out for a "finger-pointing" conversation at the mound. Canterino stays in.

HR-Single-walk. Still only one out. Get him out before it's way too late. He's got nothing left. And remember, the last inning ending with two line shot outs.

We better get the next two guys out or we again face their trecherous top of the order, with their 4 best hitters and best power hitters.

RE: Rice at Charlotte Friday game
Amador now in. As usual, Wayne waiting one or two batters too long. It was pretty obvious Matt was hitting a wall, and his pitch count was closing in on 100.

Wild pitch now moves both runners into scoring position. Let's just give this game away! Geez.

Tie game on ground out-- Willy had to groove it after falling behind 3-0 in count. Still a runner on 3B with two outs and #9 batter up....and, of course, Willy immediately falls behind in the count 3-0. Get him out of there!

4-pitch walk...and now we get Charlotte's quartet of .350+ hitters. Pathetic.

B6:

After his first three pitches appeared to be a foot or more from the strike zone -- bouncer, way outside and then way high -- Amador gets a 3-1 count bouncer to Proctor. Tying run scores, but gets the second out.

Then a 4-pitch walk, to bring up "the 49ers' hottest hitter" -- the fellow who led off the game with a mamotth dinger -- with two on. Grrrr.

RE: Rice at Charlotte Friday game
Willy strikes out Jarrett, but the damage is done. We fail to convert in our half of the inning, and we gift Charlotte the tying run in their half. 49ers have 3 runs on 4 hits.

New pitcher for Charlotte, LHP Morrison-- easy choice since next 3 Rice batters on left-handed. Again, our lineup construction is just a head scratcher in every way.
Gneiting struck out for the third time today. Do tell why Moss or Lammons didn't PH there?
Chandler long fly out.
Warren walked on 3-2 count.
BTW, all the relievers we've faced tonight have awful stats-- each one is worse than the other...yet they've held us scoreless for the past 5 innings. Moorison has given up 3 HRs in just 7 innings of work this year.
Jr RHP Perry now in for Charlotte (6.27 ERA, .328 BAA)-- another scrub...They're saving their 3 - 4 quality relievers...
Myers fouled out.
Offense has gone comatose against crap pitching.

3-3 tie heading to the bottom of the seventh inning, with the heart of Charlotte's order due up.

Here we go again-- line shot out, single, single, wild pitch. Runners on 2B and 3B, one out, and Wayne keep Amador in. 01-lauramac2

Sac fly puts Charlotte in front. Willy's 2 wild pitches have resulted in the tying run and now the go-ahead run. Runner on 3B, two outs. Willy is fooling no one.

RE: Rice at Charlotte Friday game
Willy again strands the runner at 3b, but damage already done. We have gifted Charlotte the game. Someone better light a fire in the dugout because we've played listless baseball for the past 5 innings.

DiCaprio leadoff, first pitch single. There's some aggressiveness. Keep it up.
49er coach making The OG look foolish with his lineup construction-- now putting in another lousy LHP to face the next two left-handed hitters, and he's still get his top 4 relievers waiting in reserve...
Jefferies pinch running for Dom. Not sure I agree with that decision, at least not with no outs.
Gray first pitch double. Jefferies held up at 3B. Right call with no outs, but I think he could have walked home safely on that one. Situational hitting here-- Ford need to get this one in the air...
Proctor RBI double! 02-13-banana ...but Gray inexplicably held up at 3B. With Wunderlich due up next, the way he's been hitting, I would not have played safe there. Hope it doesn't cost us.
Charlotte brings in another lousy RHP. Not sure why their Coach is not using any of his top relievers in this late game situation...Again, need to get the ball in the air, and NOT strikeout...
Wunderlich squeeze bunt scores Gray! 02-13-banana Runners on the corners, still no outs. Need to get at least one more here.
Sheppard sac fly! 02-13-banana Runner on 1B, one out. Well done.
Wunderlich caught stealing. Why?
Gneiting struck out for the fourth time tonight. Golden sombrero. Good grief!

Fortunately, the Charlotte coach out-coached himself with all his lefty-righty bullpen moves, yet holding back all his quality relievers. It took 6 innings, but it finally bit him in his arse.

6-4 good guys heading to the bottom of the eighth inning. Otto in to try to close this one out. Hopefully, we get good Otto tonight, as it's been hit or miss with him all season.

Glenn gets two quick outs, but then goes into his wildness routine-- single, HBP and he's now facing the meat of the Charlotte lineup with two outs.
