For Cuse...it makes sense to do hockey. However, could the Dome could be modified to host baseball that would be unique...not sure it is feasible.

They have played softball in the Dome...but a much smaller field

No, Syracuse would have to build its own separate baseball facility.

As I said, not a criticism of 'Cuse, I understand the issues involved.

Got beat by Carolina for the conference championship.

It would be hard to not be awful because of the weather. That's the B1G's problem.

After five seasons as a quarterback in the NFL for the New York Giants and the San Francisco 49ers, Jesse Palmer began a career as a game analyst, first with Fox Sports Net, and soon thereafter with ESPN, providing commentary for college football and NFL games. A few years later, Jesse added ABC studio analyst to his duties, joining longtime analyst John Saunders in providing pregame, halftime and postgame analysis for every ABC telecast college football game. Outside the sports arena, he was the host of Food Network’s Food Truck Face Off, and he has co-hosted Live with Kelly as well as The View, in addition to contributing on The Chew. In 2015, Jesse joined Good Morning America as a special contributor, focusing on big stories, news of the day and live events. Jesse currently resides in New York City with his French bulldog, Tuuli.mer_s4x3.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.616.462.jpeg[/img]

It would be hard to not be awful because of the weather. That's the B1G's problem.

The University of Maine has been fairly successful at baseball over the years despite similar weather problems. The key is that they send the baseball team down south for extended stretches during the second semester. I believe Syracuse does a similar thing with its softball team. This is obviously less than ideal.

Given a combination of the weather, SU's strong commitment to lacrosse and rowing as men's sports in the spring, and Title IX limitations on available men's scholarships, it is a pretty easy decision not to field a varsity baseball team.

That's just it. Virtually every other sport at SU is capable of winning a NC. Baseball never could. "Hey, come here. You get to play your first month on the road!" is a tough pitch.

As an ND baseball fan, I know the issues over travel and having to play in places Florida, Texas, North Carolina and California the first month of the season.

The weather issues suck, but ND was able to field pretty good teams under Paul Mainieri before he left for LSU.

Well Terry, he heard how much you loved L.S.U. and Baton Rouge so he took off!

That event added to my great appreciation of LSU.

If Syracuse adds another men's sport, then I think it has to be men's hockey. Almost every high school in upstate New York fields a hockey team. There's talent and we're so close to Canada we could draw from that too.

The school could also probably use the War Memorial for pretty cheap, too.

Alternatively, the school could expand the rink on south campus and use the War Memorial for big games.
