Whats the story on Barefoot. Its a head scratcher to leave a 175k job for a 135k job. Was she forced out?

The school didn't extend her contract, she had a year left but this was the best outcome for all involved.

This. She was headed for a lame-duck season. This gave her the opportunity to leave on her own terms (even though UNCW is a step down, it beats the appearances of a firing for both parties). Otherwise, next season would have been ugly. It might still be ugly, but at least it'll be in the service of turning the program around instead of kicking that can down the road one more year.

She would have been fired this year, but ODU didn't want to buy out her last year. All of our best players graduated or transferred so next season looks to be worse. Without a miracle she would have been fired after next season. This works out great because Karen lands on her feet and we don't have to buy her out but still get rid of her without actually firing her. She's a great lady and a good recruiter, but an awful coach. I wish her well, but for the sake of the program, I'm glad she's gone.

From an outside pov, she wasted alot of talent this past season letting simms have free run. The thinking guarding yall was, if simms misses her first shot let her have all she wants.

Good Recruiter. Nice person. Bad Coach.

She'll improve UNCW just by her ability to recruit. But that's about it.
