Not good news for Americans. Funny how Paul Ryan and others railed against Obama for rushing the ACA through but did the same thing with this(even more rushed, actually) . The irony is that Trump voters will be disproportionately affected by this, which will probably come back to bite the gop over the next few years.

On the contrary. Now they don't own it. They can blame everything on Trumpcare now.

The obtaining of property from another induced by wrongful use of actual or threatened force, violence, or fear, or under color of official right.

What happens if you don't pay your taxes?

"Under the Common Law, extortion is a misdemeanor consisting of an unlawful taking of money by a government officer."

Taxation is a right given to Congress by the Constitution, which makes it legal. If you keep coming at me with this crazy **** I'm going to be your worst nightmare haha. Get it together, man!

Providing healthcare for all citizens is not a responsibility granted to the federal government by the Constitution.

What don't you understand about Congress having the power to raise taxes for the general welfare?

What do you not understand about general welfare =/= paying for health insurance?

If you claim paying for health insurance is general welfare then what's stopping someone from saying "If people don't eat they die so the government should pay for all food." Or "If people don't have shelter they die so the government should pay for all housing"

The government provides for the general welfare by providing and funding hospitals and medical research. That Constitutional mandate is more than met by that.

The Senate will likely add amendments to the bill when they pass it so it will need to be sent back to be voted on again by the House. This is far from being complete.

I think the Senate waits for the CBO to score it and then uses that as an excuse to kill it

It will be a bloodbath for McConnel and Co if they do nothing. Something will get out of the Senate.

And then it should go to conference, like the Constitution intended.

This is a long way from being done but today was a good first step.

Yes, it does mean that. Hopefully, functional brains prevent your examples from happening. Bottom line, you are supporting a crap system that hurts a lot of people in support of insurance/pharma companies that are trying to **** you at every turn AND you want to pay more to get this crap system. Totally embarrassing.

Define "general welfare" in the context of the time when those words were written.
