UT Men To Host Oakland & Texas Southern as Part of Hoophall Miami Invitational
As previously announced Toledo will play at Syracuse on 11/22 and at Kansas on 11/28 as part of the 3rd Annual Men's Hoophall Miami Invitational. As part of the Tournament, Toledo will also host Oakland (25-9 this past season) on 11/18 and Texas Southern (23-12 this past season) on 12/2. This adds to an already great Non Conference Home Schedule for next season that includes Middle Tennessee, St. Joes, and Wright State.

They are also hosting Marshall. Nice home non-conference schedule next season!

I hope we destroy Syracuse and cause Boeheim his job. Wishful thinking...

We should have a great RPI and, likely, an early RIP.

If we are talking about basketball RPI; Toledo will be in triple digits.

only if we are a losing team. our non-conf schedule strength will be very high. the MAC will be average as usual. if the team wins in conference 11 or more games in conference the RPI will be good. There's a lot of likely RPI top100 teams in that non-conf sched including some top 25 ones.

the addition of oakland and a quality texas southern program (not well known nationally but consistently one of the better HBCUs) who play an elite non-conf schedule every yr and were in the tourney 3 of the past 4.

If we win 11 or more games in conference next season with the roster as it now stands (no "last minute" additions in the next few weeks), then I'll do backflips (OK...I'll throw my back out trying to do one backflip). I think we can finish with 9 or 10 MAC wins if the already-known new pieces come together; absent some more depth that can contribute in the post, I'm leery of getting too optimistic.

The schedule is fine, now we need players who can win and excel with it...so far there isn't much beef in the paint and the returning players are in the middle of the MAC pack in terms of talent...looking at yet another 0.500 season in 2017-2018 unless at least one impact player can be signed soon

Akron & Y'town St each have signed some impact players over the last two weeks for the upcoming season; Toledo hasn't done anything and has two open scholarships to boot.

1980 & counting folks...

We have impact players coming in... Jackson, Fletcher, Rose etc. We need A big guy perhaps.... this team will be more talented than any TK has rolled out yet.

Needing a big guy is more than "perhaps."

Even a clod would help.

Kampe gets to hand it to Toledo again. Amazing how he is able to consistently out recruit and out coach Toledo year after year. And they play in an arena that is reported to have a capacity of 3,000. That obviously includes how many they can have in SRO. And it is pretty much a commuter college as well with a club football team that likely could not beat the Ohio HS D-I champ.

Kampe does well, considering the resources...
Also, the Horizon is not superior to the MAC in basketball, so, out recruiting K should not be the norm...

This is going to be an interesting season to say the least. Crunch time for the program under TK...opportunities abound...will be a telling especially with very winnable games against good teams. Good luck to the Rockets.

Yeah, I agree. Last season there was good team chemistry, good academic work, some growth in the young players and a worthwhile single season from the big transfer Taylor, but it was soured by the team's repeated inability to close games strong.

This year there's some opportunities for guys to step up, some good new talent and transfers but again we could be anywhere from ok to contending for MAC champs. With the schedule finally lining up well, good home non-conf games and some exciting big time road games, setting the team up for a good rpi, it's certainly a year that could be breakthrough one... or a disappointment.

Looks like we will have insufficient bulk to battle inside but the potential for some good match ups on the perimeter and more depth. Can TK and the staff get these guys to use their strengths to push the ball, attack, get loose balls and (hopefully) create some chaos on defense or are we gonna see a team that can score but struggles to get an advantage on the boards and defensive end?
