what should the US do with north korea?
This subject has been all over the news, it seems like WW3 could happen, or its just the media over hyping it. (if there is already a thread on this my b)

What is the best way to deal with North Korea?

That's a 64 million dollar question...kinda like Israel and the Palestinians.

These two have been going along about the same amount of time.

We need a genius a Ghandi or a miracle.

RE: what should the US do with north korea?
I wonder if anyone really understands the fat boy. Is he really crazy? Does he really think that he can strike at the US, or even South Korea or Japan, and hope to survive? Or is he just posturing in hopes of retaining his cushy life?

I suspect that it is just posturing. I also firmly believe that we can wipe NK off the map without having to rely on nuclear weapons.

Except it might be 64 trillion if nuclear war breaks out.

I believe the media is over hyping it just like the fatboy is over hyping his capabilities of striking the US.

Leaving North Korea alone is the equivalent, in my eyes, to allowing ISIS to develop ICBMs and Nuclear Weapons. It's just not good for business. Something should've been done when North Korea started frantically developing their missile and nuclear programs, but that was Obama's Administration in a nutshell (The do-nothing White House). Even then, however, Seoul, within 15-20 miles of NK's artillery will be pummeled killing scores of people, including the families of our service members stationed there. It's all up to China really. They hold the leash.

Why not blame Truman who ordered MacArthur to stop at the Yalu.

That too. But you have to consider that maybe, just maybe, he though NK being ALLOWED to obtain nuclear weopons and ICBMs by future presidents wouldn't happen.

I agreed with Truman at the time and still think it was the right decision.

Definitely was, and also because there was no threat of nuclear war. Now there is and the threat grew exponentially, unchecked, under Obama.

The trench warfare didn't start until China entered the war and pushed the UN forces back down the peninsula. Prior to that it was a mobile war as after the Inchon landings and subsequent push from the Pusan perimeter the UN was routing the retreating North Koreans.

We had just finished WWII. We didn't want to gear up to drive the Chinese out of Korea. It would have been a very high price and not easy on that terrain. And at some point the Russians may have even entered. Korea does border Russia.
