St Marys drops women's lax to a club sport
This was announced April 10th and they have since played their last game. The WCC sponsors WLAX as a club sport, so their President felt that better fit the school.
With the Pac12 soon sponsoring the sport, don't know where that leaves the MPSF with the sport.

Looks like Fresno State, San Diego State, and UC Davis will be orphaned. We need a few West Coast schools not in the P12 to take up the sport to get the MPSF back up and running.

I believe SDSU and Fresno will be playing in the Pac12.

Not from what I read about Arizona State starting. The Pac-12 is not inviting any associates. In fact they only have associates when then need a 6th (SDSU Men's Soccer, CSU Bakersfield, Fresno State, and Boise State in wrestling). It's just not their pattern.

Quote:Other MPSF teams who are currently competing in women’s lacrosse include Denver, Fresno State, Saint Mary’s, San Diego State and UC Davis. None of these five teams have been invited to join the Pac-12 and are set to remain with the MPSF at the start of the 2017-18 season. This will leave the MPSF one member shy of meeting NCAA standards for retaining an automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Tournament, but it will be granted a two-year grace period to add more members to the league.
Denver proactively moved to the Big East, and St.Mary's dropped to club, which is the level most WCC schools play at. That leaves 3. There was hope UC Santa Barbara would start the sport, but that does not look to be imminent.
I think UC Davis, Fresno State and SDSU will be Independents for awhile. It would be a break in pattern for the P12 to throw a lifeline

I wonder why we're ok making this sport a Pac-12 sport but we leave indoor track in the MPSF.

Fresno is suppose to go to the Big 12 in wrestling. The PAC Needs Fresno in wrestling since Boise is dropping the sport. Fresno will only go PAC if both teams are invited. So the PAC may have to make an exception on their policy.

Pac would simply reject Fresno, as that kind of arrogance will get them nowhere fast. But Fresno State is not run by stupid fans, so that is just nonsense.
Actually wrestling doesn't have an AQ anyway it's an individual sport. And there is no way you can talk Fresno State's wrestling team to move from the much stronger Big XII to the weaker Pac-12. You can recruit a much better athlete competing in the Big 12

Why would they reject us? They're the one that contacted us! Our AD is simply trying to negotiate the best deal possible for both teams. This is why conference affiliation hasn't been announced for either team.
