Used to be that, in the real world, when there was work, people would seek it out and do that work. When there wasn't someone to do that work, whoever was trying to get it done would pay UP to find that someone.

People would flood to those occupations and leftist sneer aside, they were called "Professionals".

Now a chick with a bone in her nose, working as a coffee server in Portland, but with a degree in Chinese Poetry from Cornell is a professional.

It will come back as the value of a college degree drops. We've jumped the shark in that category. A shortage of labor is coming if we dont start being smart with what we teach our kids. We need to stop importing right now so those jobs have real value to Americans... as in, it's a better career path than some liberal arts bull****. Some of the smartest guys I've worked with manned a shovel as their first construction job.

I think we would be smart if we would allow more 16 and 17 year olds to work in summer construction. Typically they have to be 18 in most places (especially on equipment). That is, unless you have a connection or family member.
