You're not alone there. I remember plenty of us thinking Texas Tech fans were just bitter about the way TT left and were trying to rationalize a way to make the best of a bad situation... Good lord, how wrong we were. I can't remember their usernames but I would honestly give them an apology and eat some crow if I could

I agree with this.
Like any other comedian The Person Formerly Known as Coach learned when to exit the stage.

I remember Central Michigan University fans being pissed when we hired Brian Kelly and "meh" when we hired Butch.

Try running a red light sending someone's grandparents to the hospital with one eventually dying from it and not get cited by local cops until 6 weeks after the accident when people start asking questions. I don't care who you are, you get talked about.

Just since it hits a nerve for you so much...

https://www.google.com/amp/collegefootba...uries/amp/

Quote:It remains unclear if Suzanne Tuberville was cited for the accident. Pettit claims a citation was issued, while LPD Sgt. Jonathan Stewart told the Avalanche-Journal one hasn’t. A source close to the Purdys told the student paper that a citation was issued six weeks after the wreck.

Funny, I remember having the same feelings when those two coaches left Cincy. Pissed we lost Kelly and "meh" when we lost Butch.

NBCSports in their College Football Talk section brought up the discussion. It was definitely one of the suggested reasons around Lubbock that TT left.

Same here. Although had I known what was in store for us I would've been much more upset to see Butch go.

Right. Do you think she had been drinking?

I am guessing yes.

This is as good of an explanation as I can think of. I would love to hear CTT say what went wrong.

What really mystifies me why he did not appear to see any urgency in winning the bowl games. How can you expect we the people to spend significant sums at the holiday season for a weak effort. I truly enjoyed the Liberty Bowl with our win.

I doubt he really thinks anything "went wrong". Remember, "a lot of teams would be happy to be 3-2" 03-nutkick

RE: The Guy Who Used to Coach Our Football Team
I think he figured it would be a lot easier to win in the AAC and therefore brought a much more laid back approach from a recruiting and coaching perspective. I think he also thought that the expectations were much lower at UC (which it seems he assumed at Texas Tech). He didn't inspire confidence or excitement at any level which is why he had trouble recruiting kids, retaining coaches, and drawing fans. He essentially brought a low-major attitude to UC and got low-major results.

The biggest crime is how he was hired. An effective coaching search would have weeded him out (and he should have been weeded out based on his trajectory at TT alone). It was very uncharacteristic of every other coaching search conducted at UC over the last fifteen years. It makes you think that Whit Babcock thought TT could propel UC into a larger conference by name alone.

Beej caught the Shack reference. I got the bet wrong - it was only $100. High stakes back in 1980!
