MSNBC's problem-high ratings
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/andy...mg00000009

You have to take with a grain of salt an article by a media organization about another media organization, but in this one, they claim MSNBC wants to move to the center and become a serious news organization, but are hampered as their left wing shows generate great ratings.

Much like the stories that the Murdoch sons are trying to redo Fox so they aren't embarrassed in their NY cocktail parties.

In each case, you've got executives trying to remake an organization into an image they want, but find themselves failing.

Changing Fox seems like a total bonehead move. There would be a void on the right and its viewers don't trust MSM.

Re-branding MSNBC to be a true center organization (that niche has been abandoned for a couple decades) could be a long term win, but it will be painful as their audience is far left. Don't think company presidents have that long a time frame for a turnaround.

RE: MSNBC's problem-high ratings
CNN had a brand as a left of center non-partisan media group. Now their leadership has destroyed their brand of credibility. They are simply a left wing National Enquirer and their ratings have sunk.

Sometimes organizations don't succeed in spite of their top management.

Top managers are a lot like politicians. There is often a huge ego. They often surround themselves with like minded people. So they live in a bubble.

High ratings bring in advertising dollars. Why don't they just embrace their liberal mandate and ride it to financial and business security?

I saw a non-critical interview on MSNBC with the vile Franklin Graham. I haven't watched it since. If I want to watch racists and homophobes get validated, I can watch FOX.
