Kroger Field
The University of Kentucky has struck a deal & will rename their football stadium Kroger Field, replacing Commonwealth Stadium after 44 years. The deal is for 12 years and $1.85 million annually. Kentucky becomes the first SEC member to go corporate with its stadium naming rights.

http://www.kentucky.com/sports/college/k...36744.html

But this is much more than a switch in naming rights and simple signage. It’s a multi-tiered deal that includes access to campus marketing rights as well Kroger becoming the official fuel partner of the university.

Other parts of the agreement include Kroger becoming the official nutrition and pharmacy partner of UK Athletics and the official grocery store of Move-In (when students arrive and move in to campus housing).

Many of those finer details are still being hammered out, officials said, including a logo.

The day of reckoning has arrived. I always wondered when this would happen.

Considering the age of many donors perhaps Sun Maid Raisins and Prunes would be more in order with a co sponsor by Walgreens Pharmacy and perks of end of life planning. But Poyeyes could circumvent all of that!

But on a more serious note, it's a danged sad day! How much of our life and space are the corporations going to invade? I see it as a move that needs to be fought, not embraced.

Kroger Field
It was speculated/rumored here in Louisville that Papa John's was going to Lexington after a rift has publicly emerged between John Schneider, owner & founder, & Tom Jurich. I guess we can now put that to rest, unless he's interested in the naming rights to the convention center around Rupp.

So Guido Sarducci's old sketch about finding the Pope's in the Pizza would become finding the One and Done's in the Pizza?

Maybe the Papa unveils a new blue cheese pizza.

True. Most of the bowl games have comically ridiculous names. At least call the bowl the " _________ bowl, sponsored by ___________". Nothing creates a holiday day spirit like the "Fight Hunger Bowl".

Yeah, it doesn't set well with great turkey and dressing and pumpkin pie!

Do you get Kroger fuel points when you buy UK tickets? 02-13-banana

I think you have to give your points back. Perhaps it depends on what section of the stadium you are sitting in; frozen foods, meat, dairy, pet care, etc. Maybe get two for the price of one with your Kroger card.
