Mini-Plans and Away Trips
When do the details on the mini-plans and away game trips come out?

I didn't renew my season tix this year (flame away). Was just too much to come down from Dayton for six or seven games to watch them play nobodies. I was getting home around 1 or 2am on those Thursday night games. And honestly, I'm still kind of burnt out from the Cadaverville years. Excited about Fickel, but need a year off.

So this year I'm going to do a mini-plan and try to go to the Michigan game.

When do the details come out for those?

Mini plan details usually come out about the time fall practice starts, sometime in July.

They are taking deposits for the Michigan trip from Season Ticket holders. I would imagine they will eat all of them up.

Mini trip to Annapolis to see the tomb of John Paul Jones and maybe take in the game. I will never forget the Army band playing the alma mater on the parade field when they played at West Point. 02-13-banana

Must have been working OT at the Dairy Whip to pay for the trip and frizzled out. Guy got himself banned.

Will go to Navy game. Last trip to Annapolis was a disaster. Had used all my fractional time so we took early SW flight. Horrible traffic getting to game. Trying to park was awful then I got a spot not more than a 300 yard walk. The Bearcats never showed up due to Bowlcation. Return flight delayed 3 hours.

Long day, lousy game.

Recommend that you get a hotel room in Annapolis NOW for both Friday and Saturday nights. Then you can walk to the game and get the full weekend at the Naval Academy/Annapolis experience. Traffic between Washington and Annapolis on Saturday morning game day is always bad because it includes both Navy game and beach traffic heading over to the beach communities of Ocean City and Rehoboth Beach.

Any recommendations of hotel options for the Navy game? I did a search and found the closest being a 3 mile walk to the stadium . A Doubletree and a Holiday Inn Express and a couple others

We stayed at the Loews Annapolis on West Street. Easy 15 minute walk to the stadium. Easy 5 minute walk to Old Annapolis. Also on same street as The Rams Head. Great bar.

Very nice hotel that we were able to walk the entire time we were in town. Even easily walked to the Naval Acadamy from there to take a tour.

RE: Mini-Plans and Away Trips
We are planning to stay in Fairfax/Springfield Virginia area as both my sister and my wife's sister live there. How early does the traffic pick up on a game day? We'd be shooting to get there probably 3 hours or so before kickoff. Any idea if that is realistic without the drive up being a complete mess. We are looking at this as a good chance to visit family and go watch the Bearcats. My sister is also a UC grad and an enormous Bearcat fan who doesn't get to go to as many games anymore. Should be a fun trip.

Traffic will be a mess. It's a huge bottle neck in every direction. Get there EARLY.

Walking to the game saved our day from an infinite misery index spike. People that drove literally spent an hour trying to go a couple blocks.

You'll like the Historic - we had some friends that stayed there. Cool as hell area. That won't be a bad walk at all.

Based on message board comments leading up to that game, I am 99% sure I had the pleasure sitting next to you & Mrs. dossbig on the way there...I'm remiss I didn't speak up. Pretty sure our stewardess was one of the originals in hot pants from the late 1960's. Easily had 50 years on the job!

I agree with most here that Annapolis was terrific, and I wish I had stayed a few days to enjoy more of it. I stayed at the Residence Inn and took a cab to the game. The cabbie worked the traffic great, I would do that again in a heartbeat.

I wouldn't plan on getting Michigan tix thru Uc. Season ticket holders were required to give deposits with their season tix, and i doubt they get a big allotment. Stub hub is the reality.

My coworker who is a UM season ticket holder said that the scalpers are the way to go. (shrug)

Yep. This won't be a super high demand game for the folks in Ann Arbor. There will be plenty of options to buy on the street or secondary market.

I already scored 4 from the wife's relative who is a lifetime season ticket holder who wasn't planning to make the drive from Traverse City just for this one.

Letting their guard down - playing right into our hands.
