In 2006, the Drug Policy Alliance signed up retired liberal anchorman Walter Cronkite for a fundraising letter that also appeared on The Huffington Post. Cronkite wrote: "Today, our nation is fighting two wars: one abroad and one at home. While the war in Iraq is in the headlines, the other war is still being fought on our own streets. Its casualties are the wasted lives of our own citizens. I am speaking of the war on drugs. A poor white male is just as likely to get the same sentence for meth as the poor black standing on the corner selling crack. If you live in the state of KY, W. Virginia, Tenn, Alabama, Ohio, Indiana and a couple others. That white male will get more time for the meth. Because more times than not it will be a federal case. One other thing on this...

a black male is more likely to be charged with a drug & gun charge than the white male. So that plays a very important role on being charged and the time you get.

The black male, with some money will get about the same treatment as the white male, with some money...if charged with the same drug crime.

This war on drugs is more of a war on...

finding enough poor bodies (any color will do) to fill bed space for the people making millions and millions and millions from those beds being full.

Sure we have to be tougher on drugs in the black communities because it equals deaths by the thousands. Can't people understand that? Think of how many drug related homicides have occurred.
