Thanks in advance.
In college football there are 10 conferences and some independents like BYU.
They are separated in two groups one is the Power 5 which are the big money making conferences ( SEC, BIG10, BIG12, PAC12, and ACC) the others are called the Group of 5 (AAC, Sunbelt, MWC, Conference USA, and MAC).
The AAC likes to claim it is a Power Conference and rightfully so as their teams can compete at a high level unlike the rest of the Group of 5's. So they refer to themselves as a part of the Power 6 or P6 conference and the rest of the Group of 5 teams as the G4.The power 5 or group of 5 are not actual titles but ways that broadcasters often refer to the conferences.

I think this is a serious question. I actually urge you to look it up, as you will not find any information on the "G4" term other than on this board.
There is the following:
P5: This stands for "Power 5" which represents the Big 10, SEC, ACC, Big 12, and Pac 12. The P5 earn substantially more revenue through TV contracts.
G5: This stands for "Group of 5" which represents the MAC, AAC, Sun Belt, CUSA and MWC.
"G4" is not a thing. It is literally only discussed on this board. It has been made up by AAC fans here, and only here, to both make themselves feel better, and to rile up their peers in the MW, CUSA, SB, etc.

Not sure how you say it isn't a thing. The entire American conference is pushing it with commercials, stickers, and individual teams are marketing the p6 status. I can copy a UCF promotional video pushing the p6 staus.
Honestly if you pound it enough it becomes reality. Howard Stern called himself King of All Media in relation to Michael Jackson King of Pop. Both stuck and it was originally forced.

If I can liken college athletics to a family get together for dinner, the analogy would go like this:
This is he the P6:
Note the six adults which represent the B1G, SEC, AAC, ACC, Big12, and Pac. There is plenty of food, they are sharing a toast and life is generally good with more than enough to go around for everyone.
There are kids at the get together. Of course they are part of the family, but they are not allowed at the adult table. They have to sit at the small table off to the side, they do what the adults tell them to do, and get what the adults decide they should have. They want to sit at the table with the adults but are not allowed to. Usually this table descends into squabbling and general unhappiness.
These four represent the Sun Belt, CUSA, MAC, and MWC:
Any more questions?

That's a complete misrepresentation BC, that table is way smaller in real life.

More exactly, it's like a family wedding I went to when I was in high school. There were the adult tables, and there was the table that I, my same-age-and-younger cousins were at, together with my cousin Melissa who was out of college. She was NOT happy.
You're cousin Melissa. You consider yourself grown, but you're at the kids table.
The G5 American Conference is infested with a bunch of delusional wannabe fans. "Bearcats#1" determines whether a conference is a so-called power conference or not by if they had double-digit draft picks...but uh-oh, seven conferences had double-digit draft picks this year...so he should probably start daydreaming of a P7

Do you not realize how that article proves my point?

Louisville administrators and coaches said this when in CUSA, "We are better than this league". They kept ECU out to keep the league small and play a stronger OOC. They did get out voted and ECU came in. They kept that attitude. The reverse was USM administration sitting on their thumbs. "We will be fine as teams left and moved on. Now USM is in SUNWACUSA. As a fan of USM if the opportunity arose to move to the AAC, i would be ecstatic. It isn't happening. The AAC has nothing to lose by selling the P6. Why not? In the end whatever happens is gonna happen.

This strategy worked wonders for both the usfl and xfl. When are the infomercials hitting Kate night tv pimping the stickers?
