RE: Draft results by conference
How many AAC teams had no NFL draft picks this year? How many had no picks last year? How many have no NFL prospects for next year?

There are some very good programs in the AAC, but don't kid yourselves, there is no such thing as the P6. Just like every other G5 conference, the AAC's weak programs drag its better ones down to a level below the P5. That level is known as the G5, and you guys are in it whether you like it or not. UH knows this, and it's the reason they so badly covet membership in the Big 12. They know its their only hope of true separation from the rest of us.

La Tech produced three NFL draft picks last year (including a first rounder), and three NFL picks this year. There are several NFL prospects on Tech's roster this year as well. Tech's got well over a dozen former players on current NFL rosters. We have three former players in the NFL Hall of Fame, and two in the CFL Hall of Fame. If you're going to use the NFL as a barometer for football programs, we hold our own with most non-P5 programs and are head and shoulders above most. All this, along with about a buck fifty, will get us a cup of coffee in most coffee shops.

This is not the final tally. This is through round 6.

It ended up 15 for the American, 14 for the Big 12.

Need to average by number of schools. We have 12 and they have 10.

^these numbers aren't correct. I'm not sure what the mistake was or what I'm misunderstanding about these numbers....

Not bad for a conference shorted by media payments to the tune of $20 million a year for the same level of product.

P6
