Was just going to post.

Entirely fair that POC, Gardner, Wylie, and Pace get shots at the next level.

P.S. I wish we had a spring league so more players would get an opportunity to play pro ball. The NFL is SO good that even players who are just below NFL caliber are capable of very high quality football.

I'm shocked, despite what the 'experts' say on Terrell.

Some QBs, like Drew Brees, do nothing but complete passes.

And, for Pete's sake, NFL team would be drafting Terrell in the 6th or 7th round to be a BACKUP. No one expects him to be a Stafford or Rogers or Brady.

So to compare Terrell to a first rounder is a false comparison. He doesn't need to be 6' 4" and have a rocket for an arm.

QB is one position where a player can be drafted and groomed as a backup and that is because of the nature of the position.

No one expects (or hopes) a backup QB to get 30 - 40% of the snaps. If he is expected to get only mop up duty, why waste a 3rd round pick on a back up QB prospect? This is in start contrast to DLs, RBs, etc. where a 3rd DE is expected to get a lot of snaps. Ditto a 2nd or 3rd RB.

Terrell was a good MAC qb, whose numbers were skewed by the #5 receiver in the NFL draft, 2 other Senior receivers, a second round OT, the best RB combo in the league, etc, etc.

He just doesn't have the upside that NFL guys are looking for with late round picks.

Agree...I believe Roback and EMU poised for a breakout year. If Roback improves his decision making, I believe he is the top QB in the MAC, but until he proves it on the field, Toledo's QB is the top player.

Agree with you EagleTough. Terrell was a very good decision maker thst quite honestly had an NFL lineman and the top MAC receivers helping him look great.

RE: Today is draft day for EMU players
Guys, I no longer (I think) have parts of the Cotton Bowl game vs. WI on my DVR. Will check, though. I am curious how he did. I remember WMU struggling offensively for most of the game...

One of the good thing about top opponents, and a New Year's Bowl game is the chance for the players (WMU) to be evaluated vs. B1G opponents.

There is an old axiom that if a college player can play the NFL will find him and thoroughly evaluate him in games, all-star games, combines, pro days, etc.

And they know how to compensate for lack or surplus talent around him.

This is very far O/T, but I need a thread to dump it in...

According to this 2018 (yes, we don't even get 7 days of draft rest) but Wyoming QB, John Allen, is their #2 overall pick in the 2018 draft.

Good news: We don't play WYO this year....

All four starting DB's on the 2013 Cass Tech Football team were either drafted, UFAs, or got camp invites.
That's special.

Little tidbits but POC and Golladay (NIU-WR) both Lions' draftees were h.s. teammates. Didn't know that.

I thought this would get Zach Terrell a late round pick:

Give him a ton of credit, but Fleck was so cheesy 03-lmfao. He knew he was being filmed for that locker room speech so he really spiked up the cheese level! The players really didn't seem to be buying it either.

"You know what trailblazers do............they blaze trails!" haha

Don't get me wrong, would have loved him at EMU as well. We'll see how he does at Minnesota, but I'd be surprised if he ever did any better than the 9 wins their coach put up last year. I think 90% of his success at WMU was him out recruiting the rest of the conference by a wide margin. He simply had that much better players last year. No way he out recruits the Ohio State's, Penn State's, and Michigan's of the Big Ten.

Will be interesting to watch.

I agree completely with you.

The only school which seems to win in the B1G without great, great recruiting is Northwestern.

We'll see if he can out coach Fitzgerald at Northwestern.

Just has to be better than Alex Barrett and Jeremiah Valoaga (both undrafted free agents) and he should make the roster.
