I really wish the Lions had NOT made the trade in the 3rd round to move down and get an extra 4th rounder.

Kareem Hunt went the pick after the Lions' original 3rd round pick.

Lions could have (and did) pick Roberts in the fourth.

And, of course, Pat O'Conner in the 7th.

That would really have increased MAC visibility among Lions' fans.

If Hunt rushed for 500 yards and Roberts caught 25 passes, Lions' fans would take notice of MAC teams like Toledo, WMU, EMU, etc.

Nothing better for the MAC than to have MAC skill players playing for NFL teams close to the MAC school where they played ball.

It makes WMU season even more impressive. They had 2 picks who will probably play 8-10 years in NFL and have a couple more OLINEMAN that will get drafted.

You act as if they didn't trade up to get a MAC player in Golladay. The only difference between he and Corey Davis is a QB.

Actually the Lions traded DOWN to get Golladay.

They picked up an extra 4th rounder.

As far as Davis vs. Golladay and QBs, I don't feel qualified to discuss.

That said, I HOPE Golladay is the real deal.

I have an opinion, Davis is SUPERIOR, ,not even close. Davis is significantly better footwork an route running ability. KG is talented, but he has limited skill set. Powerful hands and can catch, very good in jump ball situations. Davis is just excellent. Wish them both the best.

GLIAC had one player drafted, from Ashland.
(I live in Grand Rapids where the non-P5 team is Grand Valley St and they get a high reputation here so happy to see that none were drafted)

Very nice article on Golladay and Roberts, two of the Lions' MAC draftees.

Interesting tweet:. My favorite NFL draft stat: 25 percent of the 253 players chosen were 2-stars or unranked coming out of high school, according to @247Sports

WMU had more players drafted (3) than Michigan State (2) and Notre Dame (2). The MAC overall had a great showing, and having a player go top 5 is always nice.

RE: UNofficial MAC/NFL Draft Thread
Maybe the best way to describe:

Davis has been maxed out. He had excellent QB play while we was at WMU. Had a good offense, good WRs, good Rbs, etc.

Golladay is different. We don't know how good he would have been if he had played at say WMU.

That is why scouting is so difficult. comparing apples and oranges.

It isn't like a college board exam where a bunch of h.s. juniors sit down on a Saturday morning and all take the same exam at the same time under the same conditions.

Would have been interesting. Roback was a very effective QB in 2016.
