CUSA Appreciation Thread:
In light of the whole negative realignment threads that have been popping up lately, I felt it would be a good time to express some of the things I like about CUSA as it is. Please feel free to do the same as a fan of your school.

From a Tech fan I love about CUSA:

CUSA West: Texas, Miss & Alabama.. doesn't get much better for Tech recruiting. Having teams we can consider rivals instead of Airport Trips.

Playing in Bowl games I can drive to. We went to two bowls in the WAC, both a million miles away from us. Two in TX and One in LA??? Could ask for more.

A healthy tv presence against WKU and Marshall once. For some reason when WKU and Tech plays each other in football, people outside of CUSA seem to take notice. Our television games have been well watched and there always seems to be a healthy amount of chatter afterwards. They seem to live up to their hype. That may be why we can't seem to get off each other's schedule and often seem destined to play each other twice a year.

Rice, Rice , Rice...When SMU and Rice left the WAC is was like getting dumped at prom. Your baseball was amazing and football had an element of lore about it. Being back in the same conference has been a joy and we hope to continue it for a good while

Rivalry in Dixie: Our big game, and we always seem to fall on our face.

No Karl Benson- not having Mr. Peanut around has helped with my medication intake, even though Ms. Sally Personality is turning out to be almost as bad.

Our growth has tripled since joing CUSA. A lot of that has to do with our Prez who came along right at the same time we joined, but its still impressive none the less.

These are just a few things I can say to justify being a CUSA member. I look forward to an extended stay and growing with others here.
04-cheers

LA Tech: Trademark narcissism makes them one of the best G5 fanbases.
Rice a great academic institution and it benefits all of our schools to be associated with them.
We don't ever have to play football on Tuesday or Wednesday.
It's a top-tier quality baseball & soccer league.

I was going to say the exposure and money. Oops. Guess I'm left with it's FBS and we get to play Marshall in football, and Charlotte, WKU, MTSU and UAB again in basketball.

We get to play Marshall in football...As long as we both make it to the championship game.

I do not appreciate ODU. They beat us in everything. No matter how good we are and how bad they are, we always end up losing to them.

Pilot, I feel your pain, but for ODU fans its MTSU that just beats us like a drum. Maybe this year we can turn that around.

Just competing in the same football conference with storied programs like Marshall, USM, and Rice has been a positive. It may sound strange, but for me a big gain from joining C-USA for me has been what it has meant to our home OOC football schedule. We now are hosting games with NC State, UNC, UVA, VA Tech, ECU, and Wake Forest. This never would have been possible as an FCS program in the CAA. Just watching the football team steadily improve, compete at the next level and go to a bowl game has also been a plus.

The overall quality of play in basketball has been a little disheartining, but the top tier teams have given the Monarchs all they can handle and maybe then some.

All said and done -- I am definitely glad the Monarchs made the move to C-USA.

Division titles? Regular season titles? Sounds like you got a bunch of runner up trophies. But....it's more than we've got.

I said that I appreciate this conference, not that I am content. We have serious bridesmaid issues down here in Ruston.

Its a flu like symptom very similar to "Coogin It Up" where you set the world on fire for a good spell only to disappear right when its time to finish the job. Only to find the groove during bowl season.

RE: CUSA Appreciation Thread:
I appreciate CUSA causing 1000 keyboards to tickle in a frenzy as ODU was invited and accepted over JMU to be the 3rd FBS school in the state. The internet was so great that day.

ECU can suck it, as they were supposed to be our rival. Oh well. Charlotte will be there soon, once they beat us in football the rivalry will commence.

Baseball seems to be better, so that's cool.

Basketball sucks, but that's just part of the growing pains. Seems like the strong basketball teams in the conference have yet to all have a strong year at the same time, I look forward to whenever that happens.

I appreciate finding the most unlikely of rivals in UTEP. The fans are salty enough to throw stuff at our players, that deserves some kind of recognition. Putting a new spin on "tough home crowd" indeed.

I like the fact that CUSA has some serious basketball schools, and I love having Louisiana Tech as the neighborhood bully. Good rivalry.

I like that every year is an opportunity to tangibly improve the perception of the conference. There are usually 2-3 MBB teams that could make some noise in March, but as of late we are only averaging 1. Football will be ok once proper recoveries have been made. Baseball has been looking above average lately and I hope that continues. (Hoping someone goes Coastal and wins it all this year)
