WSU o/u 4.5 conference losses in year 1
The chatter on WSU has died down, but thoughts on over/under 4.5 conference losses their first year in the AAC?

I think Wichita State will come in with a lot of momentum.

There will be dogfights but their tourney run this year will have them primed.

I am thinking right at 5 losses but that could change once the schedule is released. I would like to think they will face Houston, SMU, Cinc, Temple and UConn twice which will likely lead to 3-4 of those losses. Then factor in maybe UCF or Tulsa getting the better of them and there you have 5.

I honestly would have placed the o/u at 2½

2-4. I will be surprised if they lose more or less.

Really good conference with few, if any, gimmies. 14-4 would be an outstanding record, imho.

Consistency certainly has been a calling card for Marshall coached teams. His teams don't have many off nights, and given the number of seniors he'll have, I'd expect that to be uber strong next season.

Still, this is a hell of a league, and I would suspect everyone will be primed to knock the Shocks down a peg if they can.

I'm trying to figure who from the 2016 AAC teams would beat them. Possibly splits with SMU and Cincy. Maybe a split with UCF with Fall coming back but unlikely. If UCONN returns to some semblance of form then perhaps they can split too. Who else? Temple had a couple of nice upsets early in the year, perhaps but highly unlikely.

Vastly improved Temple & UConn, SMU and Cincy will still be at the top, then Houston and UCF still coming on. I think the line at 4.5 is correct.

RE: WSU o/u 4.5 conference losses in year 1
Our conference last year was ranked 12th in the RPI and we lost once with most of the games not even close. Based on RPI, Kenpom, etc., this conference appears to be anywhere from 25-50% more potent. Since we are newcomers, our opponents might possibly underestimate us and/or not have a complete dossier on how to prepare for us. That being said, nearly everyone in the Valley hates our guts so I'm sure they will be more than glad to send all the film they have, free of charge and next day air.

We are a veteran team with a small surprise factor. I'll be ecstatic with 2 losses, very pleased with 3, satisfied with 4 (depending on who it's to), eyebrows raised with 5, and muttering WTF with 6. Predicted finish: Top 2

The following year the surprise factor is gone and we lose a few key pieces. Marshall's teams tend to reload and not rebuild. That fact was confirmed with the loss of Ron and Fred and this year having one of the statistically finest teams 3G's put on the floor since coming to Wichita. I still don't understand how that was possible. As long as Shamet and McDuffie don't go NBA after next year we should have a nice core to steady the ship in 2018-2019. Predicted finish: Top 4

Here is my opinion on the subject. WSU will lose a game at smu and cincy, both of those team have a chance to beat them on there home floor as well, i think cincy has the best chance out of any team. if UConn is good they will beat wsu at Gampel a big hostile husky crowd will show up for that game. UCF has a chance to beat them as well as temple, Houston could put up a fight as well. i see it ranging from 2-5 in conference losses for WSU. any of the top teams in this conference can put up a fight with WSU IMO.
