But yet they continue to employ and pay the big bucks for people like Stephen A Smith!

Brett McMurphy always had good scoops. I believe he was the one that niu would use to put out information.

Jayson Stark, holy moly. He's been one of their big MLB writers forever. Also Melissa Isaacson used to be with the Tribune, did she not?

That was a bloodbath. I guess we won't get any stories on ESPN anymore, it'll be more B1G,SEC, and NYY,Red Sox, and Patriots information 24/7. We need a better sports outlet built from the ground up, since the house of mouse isn't doing it.

There is one a$$hole that should get laid off but hasn't yet. NIU's favorite.

Good read on why ESPN's business model is collapsing: Outkick the Coverage.

I would read this, but then I would want to murder Clay Travis for the 2349028592450 time, i'm sure. So I won't read it.

Great read. I totally agree that most of us don't want to hear all the non sports crap that espn has been pushing. This will no doubt impact college sports as most conferences are relying on tv or espn money.

I don't think it was left wing stuff that drove people away. The fact is that most of the non-sports shows were just filler, and there was too much of it. They needed more real content. At one point they had just ESPN and then ESPN2 and that was a lot easier. Also, cable packages became too expensive and cable companies, at least one I know, have terrible customer service, so people are doing all they can to cut the cord.

Haven't watched Sportscenter and College Game Day or any of their other shows in years. If they think having personalities yell, shout, and talk over each other is compelling programming, then more power to 'em.

Agree with you there. I was including all the crappy talk shows as non sports content since most of them don't really have much good info. Comes across as bad sports talk radio.

Yeah, the talking heads are terrible. From Gameday to Sportscenter, Around the Horn and PTI they can all go.. Reboot SC as a recap of the day's highlights with some news. Get rid of the "personalities" I don't know anyone who likes any of them from Stephen A Smith, to Herbie and Corso, Pollock. They're more interested in screaming and looking silly than any actual analysis.

I love the concept of GameDay. Unfortunately it has turned into a lot of hype. Same schools visited over and over with not enough focus on the rest of the programs. Seems like too much of the program focuses on what head gear Corso pick. I am still a fan of the program but it needs improvement.

Maybe they'll have to break the MAC contract? We can go back to Saturday games on radio and maybe some local comcast.

RE: Rough day for ESPN
I saw Jade McCarthy was getting let go. Odd, since she is pregnant. I am guessing it was her decision. Otherwise there are a lot of other bimbos on that network that need to go ahead of her. She knows her stuff and and coherently string words together w/o 3 fake laughs and jokes in between. She did a great job last night during the NFL show just after Tweeting she was let go.
