RE: OT: ESPN laying off 100 people, including on-air talent
ESPN has been bleeding money lately. Most of their expenses are tied up in overpriced, long-term contracts after trying to corner the market in virtually every single sport for a while there. So I guess Disney must look for other ways to cut costs.

I know many people hate the MAC EPSN deal, but the MAC signed that at just the right time. ESPN is divesting or massively reducing the price of contracts when they come due. May be a long time before G5 schools see TV money like that again.

if they would show sporting events instead of documentaries maybe they would have viewership. also, they would be better off showing Austrian Football instead of the rerunning the same Sports Center 8 times in a row over night.
Fox Channel is now showing the Aussies and it's fun to watch.

Yeah, but the mandatory waltzes between plays really slow down the flow of the game. Rimshot

Disney is spending a bundle on their World of Avatar and Star Wars Theme Parks.

Hope this doesn't mess up Wednesday night MACTION in November and December. It would be awful to have to watch football on a Saturday afternoon.
