Bullpen finally comes through
As PTJR has correctly pointed out on numerous occasions about our bullpen failing us, way too many times to be truthful, the bullpen finally did their job last night in stopping the bleeding administered by UCA over the last couple of years. I believe I read we had lost four straight to them prior to last night. In baseball you can lose to any team on a given night, but you shouldn't lose to a UCA or a UAPB this often. That is unacceptable in my opinion.
Despite this, I don't expect to see a turnaround of a bad season at this point. Baseball is built around pitching. You can score runs by having good hitting, but you've still got to score more than your pitching gives up.

To be fair....UCA is probably the 2nd best baseball program in the state. That put more money into it than either of us do, and have a recent regional bid to show for it.
UAPB...yeah that's bad.

I'd agree UCA is somewhat ahead of us in baseball. They hired a good coach who we looked at as well. I do believe Coach Curry is the right man for our job. The question is, what is a realistic ceiling for LR Baseball considering financial and other limitations? He has shown we can be very competitive in the league. Being able to win this league is a whole different story.

I hope, as does Coach Curry, that last night's performance by the bullpen represents a turning point in our season. Also, as much as we gripe about ADG coverage, there was really nice big photo coverage of the LR/UCA game on the front page of the Sports Section in today's paper.

Sure, today's coverage was great, but we need the coverage before the game. About 1000 people turned out. Last night's weather was absolutely perfect. Hard to imagine, that a couple of 100 more folks wouldn't have come out if they would have known about the game.
