Freshman Year: 8.3ppg and 4.3 rpg at Juco and didn't start a game. [1]

Sophomore Year: 8.9ppg and 4.0 rpg at JUCO, while only averaging 19.4 min per game. Started every game. [2]

Please stop talking smack about a kid. He's going to contribute on this team next year. He might not start but he's going to prove depth if we run like Tubby claims.

He had an offer from NM, and this late in the year it's good to pick up any big. We could of used a guy like him last year. If fact, we missed on Ngor Barnaba who started over him his freshman year at Missouri State-West Plains.

I know he's going to average 4 and 2, in 14 minutes next year. But that's going to help.

Is posting stats talking smack?

If the stats are correct, it would help.

First he averaged 9 in HS, which was wrong, then he never started a game in JuCo, which was also wrong. Next he's gonna have a hook for a hand and two club feet.

Hawthorne, their leading rebounder, signed with MTSU.

Sikes, their leading scorer and 2nd leading rebounder, signed with South Alabama.

Their 3rd leading rebounder has been offered by Nichols State.

Their 11 and 5 guy (2nd leading scorer, 4th leading rebounder), Emanuel Thompson, signed with Morehead State.

Their 9 and 4 guy (3rd leading scorer and 6th leading rebounder), Mike Parks, signed with the University of Memphis.

Per Minute Stats please...

Bottom line with Parks:

His peer comparison out of high school (Parks 22 ppg, Kaba Camara 21 ppg), Kaba Camara, averaged 1.0 ppg and 1.5 rpg at Cal-State Northridge.

His frosh year of JUCO, he played with Ngor Barnaba. Barnaba got more PT than Parks and averaged 15 and 7. Parks averaged 8 and 4. Adjusted for minutes, they had about the same pts/40 and reb/40. Barnaba then went to Utah State and averaged 3.0 and 2.7 as a junior.

His peers on his last JUCO team (most with more minutes per game and better pts and rebound numbers) are attending or offered by the likes of MTSU, South Alabama, Morehead State, and Nichols State.

Finally, the typical JUCO transition to D1 is (at best) performing at 1/2 of the output of JUCO. That would mean Parks, at best, should be expected to put up 4.5 and 2.0.

I'm not looking for stats here. Late bigs are hard to come by. We had a big need. He is a big. Evidently, the best the staff looked at, because the others are still waiting on offers from us. He gives us size in the middle to body-up Tacko and whoever Cincy runs out there. Role player who will hopefully be more valuable than the points he scores. He likely won't be the next Joey Dorsey.

I fail to see what Kaba Camara, whoever he is, has to do with anything. Could be a million variables there, size, school, division, athletic ability, etc.

As for his peers on his JuCo team, the leading scorer was a 6'1" 2 guard. UNC isn't lining up for 6'1" 2 guards. Schools are looking for 6'9" guys with some mobility though, especially when they need size.

I also like the last paragraph, where you say the "typical" Juco averages half his stats and then add on "at best" as if that is the ceiling for every single player. Some of those guys average way less, some do fine.

Success for this kid is 6 and 4 with a block shot sprinkled in the mix. That's not a stretch.
