C-USA (2)
Western Kentucky
LA Tech
O̶l̶d̶ D̶o̶m̶i̶n̶i̶o̶n̶ Picke #64

Sun Belt (1)
Appalachian State
T̶r̶o̶y̶ - Picked #68

AGGIE, MY PICKS

1. Which conference will be the first to have all teams selected? MAC
I agree I think the MAC will have both Miami (Ohio),PICKED # 69 & Toledo before any other G5 conference is filled in.
ONLY ONE TO GO

2. Which conference will be the last to have all teams selected? ACC ...AAC ?
Yep....I agree AAC, I thing USF and Houston will be the last TWO (2) selected from the five conferences I think NAVY will need to have a good replacement for their QB they lost to have a great year..

3. Which team will be next to be selected? UCF
Maybe Tulsa PICKED #67 , they need a QB just like ODU. It might be us.... IMO I think UCF will be really good this year. Last year they only lost to Temple by a point and almost beat Houston They had a fantastic recruiting class for 2017, the #1 class in the AAC. They picked up one of the top freshman running backs in the country with another RB that was a 4 star. The also snagged a local QB from Norview Darriel Mack out of Norfolk. He had an outstanding Sr. year. He may red shirt. The 2017 class had 20 3 stars and a 4 star gave them a monster recruiting class.. BINGO

4 Which team will be last to be selected? Navy
USF AAC - They are returning almost every one from last years team that went 10 -3. Their only defeat in the AAC was to Temple. They also were very competitive against Florida St..

5. What will be the G5 order of the average ranks after all are selected?
AAC, C-USA, Mountain West, MAC, Sun Belt
Perfect.... AAC, Mountain West, C-USA, MAC..................SBC Corrected .

6. Does anybody care? Not really.
LOL, Care maybe not, but enjoy the off season chatter...YES. Thanks for all the work AGGIE..

I Of the remaining G5 Schools, I think @Wyoming, *Toledo or #Old Dominion may be up in the next few picks. I hope it is Wyoming. The MWC will be intriguing for the final order. San Diego State had a unbelievable 2016 going 11-3 ending the year with a win over Houston in the Las Vegas Bowl and RANKED # 25 in the final poll. They lose a lot of starters from last years team but keep their QB and a strong group from their defensive unit. Than if you look or compare Boise State, the MWC may finish ahead of CUSA slightly, all will certainly depend on the pick first of ODU and Wyoming. Than next SDSU against LA Tech and finally the placement of WKU compared to Boise. After a closer review, I do think the MWC will edge out ahead of CUSA. With ODU Picked at as # 64 that will almost assure the MWC will be the 2nd ranked conference of the G5.

*Toledo
will need to replenish a strong offensive squad from last year. They return their QB but have lost some very key players from a team that did a lot of scoring (averaged about 40 points per game). They played App state really strong last year in the Camellia Bowl losing 31 -28. (Logan Woodside, Toledo's QB is OUTSTANDING
Woodside headlined Toledo’s explosive offense last season and torching opposing defenses for 4,129 yards and 45 scores. He tossed at least two touchdowns in every game and finished fourth nationally by completing 69.1 percent of his throws). He would be the reason for them to be picked higher, if Matt feels this offsets their other loses.

@ Wyoming will be stealer on defense maybe one of the best in the country, especially at the G5 ranks. However, they will be in need of some offensive weapons as they only return 6 players on the offensive side of the ball not including their QB.

# ODU, first off ODU will need to replace a QB that knew how to move the chains. The defense will be good but will need to replace some key loses from last year. ODU did rank in the top 25 in many defense categories #4 in turn over margin, # 15 fumble recoveries and in the top 50 for overall defense last year. The big question mark will remain the QB position. The new JC transfer Jordan Hoy out of Fullerton JC was outstanding in HS... Highlights.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t1dfpjNPtU He also had a very strong Freshman season at Fullerton. A 6-foot-1, 195-pound native of Rockwall, Texas, Hoy completed 246 of 391 passes for 3,434 yards and a school-record 37 touchdowns against just six interceptions last fall. He also rushed for 712 yards and nine touchdowns and led the team in passing and rushing. He was named the 2016 Southern California junior college offensive player of the year. Will have 3 years of eligibility left.

A tad generous with the placement, but I'll take it. I'm worried about inflated expectations here on the boards though. We need another stern talking to from Troy fans to calm things down

Yeah, other teams were the only ones dealing with injuries. We got lucky playing teams at the right time. David Washington's and Lawry's injuries are irrelevant.

You guys both forgot to add the 03-lmfao emoji.

RE: Orlando Sentinel Countdown
For the Monarchs, the composite ranking of Athlon, ESPN and SBNation is 91. Obviously, Uncle Matt has a substantially different opinion as he brought them in at 64. A full composite of all four is approximately 84. The average of 91 and 64 is roughly 77. Not being able to decide which of those two to use, I went for the nice round number of 80.

So here's the deal for all who think the Monarchs were ranked too high. But where should the Monarchs be ranked? Using my nice round number, at the end of the season will ODU be over or under 80? Being the homer that I am, I'm going with the under and think they will come in closer to 50 than 80. What say you?

Around 105-110 this year, with 6-6 record. Tougher CUSA schedule

I would say under. I would have you at about 70, but believe it's on the basis of a 7-5 or 6-6 type season. Of course, if that's actually your record, the P5 biased rankings will have you in the 90's.

There are a three assumptions that I'm making about the east.

1. The marginal improvement on defense from MT will result in an east championship for MT though a 10-win season is likely out of the picture given the OOC schedule and fact that the east is going to be far and away the best division this year.

2. wkcc takes a small step back probably to a seven or eight win season.

3. FAU will be the most improved team in C-USA and will challenge for the eastern division while Marshall demonstrates significant improvement as well.

This is how I have the east going, but there are going to be a lot of toss up games in the east this year.

MT 6-2
wkcc 6-2
FAU 5-3
Marshall 4-4
ODU 4-4
FIU 2-6
Charlotte 1-7

I think, Tech may be the most unpredictable of the group. You can only keep replacing important parts every year before you finally get a dud. We could seriously content for an AQ spot or we could barely win 6 games. I just don't know how Skip can keep replacing NFL Draft Picks every single season and still win 9 games every single season.

80 - 90, finishing 7-5 (if not for the bye week between VT and FAU, I'd pick that game as an upset)

W - Albany
W - UMass
L - UNC
L - VT
W - FAU
L - Marshall
L - WKU
W - UNT
W - UNCC
W - FIU
W - Rice
L - MTSU

Yep good post. Question mark at QB also, until Jmar has 2 or 3 complete games under his belt

If he shows anywhere close to the game he played against Ark he will win Tech some FB games.

For the most part he made some very good decisions. But we never got to see how he reacted to losing a game Tech probably should have won. Sometimes that next game can be just awful as the close loss was good.
