Good comment, but I am holding off on the running averages until all the G-5 conferences have at least one team. If the running start by C-USA, MAC, Sun-Belt and MT West keeps up, that may be a while. I suspect it may be two weeks or so before we see ECU or Tulane.
Sun Belt - 3 Texas State (129), NM State (127), GA State (124)
MAC - 2 Buffalo (128), Kent State (122)
C-USA - 2 UAB (130), Charlotte (126)
MT West - 1 Fresno State (123)
Independent - 1 UMASS (125)

By the way, Coastal Carolina should pop into this year's list. I suspect they may well be next.

Not saying whether or not Charlotte will finish that low. However, even in a year after we lost so many seniors, that low of a finish would not be well received. I do not think any of our fans are expecting that. They are probably expecting something close to a repeat of last season (inexperienced FBS recruits replacing experienced FCS recruits). The main issue will be the D Line, I think. That will determine how high they rise or how low they fall.

Charlotte could win one game or seven. We still have several FCS players on the roster, but we are deeper than we've ever been (which cost us at least one game, maybe two).
I really have no idea. I'm happy with three wins.
Next season, the training wheels are off.

RE: Orlando Sentinel Countdown
Ok, here's the first effort at the projected rankings for the G5 and independents. Keep in mind two things. One, it's early, and I may have inadvertantly erred in the start up of my spreadsheet. Two, it's early, and there is really not enough data for the projections to be accurate, other than the relative positions. Anyway, here goes.
AAC 15.13
MWC 15.29
C-USA 23.86
MAC 25.42
IND 32.75
SBC 35.42
AS OF:4/26/17
Includes UCONN at 121
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/co...-rankings/
121. UCONN
122. Kent State
123. Fresno State
124. GA State
125. UMASS
126. Charlotte
127. New Mexico State
128. Buffalo
129. Texas State
130. UAB
Sun Belt - 3 Texas State (129), NM State (127), GA State (124)
MAC - 2 Buffalo (128), Kent State (122)
C-USA - 2 UAB (130), Charlotte (126)
MT West - 1 Fresno State (123)
AAC - 1 UCONN (121)
Independent - 1 UMASS (125)

Sure why not.
2016 ranking:
31 WKU (11-3)
55 S Miss (7-6)
57 Marshall (3-9)
63 MTSU (8-5)
66 LT (9-5)
87 FAU (3-9)
95 ODU (10-3)
99 UTSA (6-7)
105 UTEP (4-8)
108 Rice (3-9)
112 FIU (4-8)
115 Char (4-8)
127 UNT (5-8)
Man, everybody missed on Marshall pretty bad.
Consdiering that was the worst Marshall football team I have seen since the 80's, I agree.
We won't be a surprise this year. I don't expect much improvement. Only hope.

Who do you think is next for C-USA? I'm thinking either Rice or UTEP. I'm leaning toward UTEP. Unfortunately, I think we will see one of those two somewhere in the next five up.

I agree that UTEP is likely the next up for C-USA. Whether they deserve to be listed this low will be determined over the course of the season. I'm hoping for, not expecting, improvement over last season.

I am surprised we have not already seen Rice. David Bailiff seems to be coaching in what could be a lame duck year under close scrutiny by the athletic director. Even with the new coaches beneath him, that doesn't look like a good situation for the program.

Yeah, it seems like you guys have just run into a real slump. Who looks to replace Aaron Jones? Seems like some pretty big shoes to fill.

but they are so supposed to be P6!
This was fully expected. Honestly I expected UConn lower (worse ranked). Where it will be interesting is where Tulane, SMU, and ECU are ranked. The former 2 are projected to turn the corner, while ECU... who knows. I think If Murschel shies away from name recognition he'll place ECU before SMU / Tulane. If not, we'll see Tulane next.
Either way, the AAC shouldn't be seen again for at least two weeks.

At the beginning of spring practice the likely replacement for Jones was Wadley who played some last year as a true freshman. He was injured this spring and looks to be out for the year. The RBs include Awatt, gray shirt last year, Dawn, wr last year, Dove, big back who played some last year as a freshman, Powell who took a medical redshirt last year but played well the year before, and Fields, an El Paso product, true freshman this coming season and a 1st team all state player. Lots of expectations for him to be the next Jones. UTEP needs to supplement the run game with a decent passing threat or they will never win on a regular basis. They are basically telling opponents what they're going to do so the box gets loaded up.
