fyi, last year tech beat uab to win the tourney (north texas, utsa other 2 teams to make match play)

3 days of stroke play...top 4 teams make it to match play....1 v 4, 2 v 3...winners advance to match play championship

gonna assume crappy weather for the terrible scores all around...final 2 rounds played today...match play starts tomorrow

no, i like it...more competitive to me. i hated the 36 holes yesterday...tired all the golfers and it really showed with the scores in the third round. north texas wilted the last 2 days...were on fire day one, but wore out.

I didn't like 36 holes in one day either but it's odd to me a team championship comes down to individual matches.

maybe do a reset of the scores for the finals...start from scratch and play 36 to determine the winner based upon stroke play?

it's just like in team tennis...each individual match is a point to determine the winning team

This is UTEP's 2nd conference title this school year with men's cross country being the other. What's really great is that the Miners 2 titles are in the major revenue sports!!

Isn't that how they do it in the NCAA Tourney ? I would say they changed it for that reason.

I forgot about the women's indoor track and field conference championship! That's 3 titles for UTEP and going for 4th and 5th in May when UTEP hosts the outdoor T&F championships!
