Post Spring Game Assessment: OOC, Who You Going To Beat?
Too much talk around here about mergers and realignment. Lets get back to talking about football games.

Yes it is early still very early, but after watching your team's Spring Game, which teams on your Out-of-Conference schedule do you think you can beat? And why? Which do you suspect you might lose to? And how bad?

This should be fun.

Assuming that the Sanford regime doesn't fall flat, WKU SHOULD win all of their OOC games.

EKU
Ball St
Illinois
Vanderbilt

Middle Tennessee has Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Minnesota and Bowling Green. If we can improve on defense we can win all four. If not, then probably just Bowling Green.

La Tech has NSU, Fail State, South Carolina, and USA. NSU and USA are most likely wins (but don't think I've forgotten MSST and SDSU, USA fans). Fail State is a maybe, but I'm optimistic because it's at home. SCar is a long shot, but not totally out of the question.

Defense has a chip on its shoulder and as long as the offense stays solid we should do just fine. Anything less than 2-2 will be a disappointment. 3-1 is the goal.

QB J'Mar Smith will really frustrate opposing defenses and their fans via his arm and his legs.
DE Jaylon Ferguson will break a perfectly good QB before the season is over.

UTEP

@ Oklahoma - Miners might lose this one. 02-13-banana

Arizona - in El Paso but UTEP will be underdogs, remotely possible to pull the upset but not at all likely.

@ NMSU - an improved Aggie team but UTEP has won 8 in a row and should win again.

@ Army - the Cadets whacked the Miners last year and they will be better this year with tons of returning starters. Tougher than the Arizona game?

Ours starts at 3:00 if storms don't end up shutting it down today.

But regardless of what I witness in Spring Game. With the talent we have returning we should win all 4 of our OOC games. 3-1 at the very worst.

Charlotte's spring is at 6 tonight. Should be a beautiful evening in the Queen City.

Marshall, can never judge team based on spring practice or game, but no change at OC or QB I will be surprised if the offense is significantly better than 2016.

@ NCSU likely loss
@ Cincy likely loss
Miami OH toss up
Kent likely win

Really? I'm 3 hours north and we've been getting dumped on.

RE: Post Spring Game Assessment: OOC, Who You Going To Beat?
At this point I think North Texas might finish the OOC with a decent record.

Lamar- North Texas should win big.
@SMU- Toss up... Morris is 7-17 after 2 seasons at SMU. We should be able to compete in this game.
@Iowa- Lose. A Big10 team that might be Top 25 caliber.
Army- WIN. Our defense could be special this season, and our offense has more weapons then last year.

3-1 would be great, and I think we have a good chance of doing that, but 2-2 will still leave us in a good position to earn another Heart of Dallas Bowl appearance.

Yea Charlotte isn't getting rain until the morning. They even moved the Sunday baseball game against MT to tonight.

Was a perfect weather evening in Charlotte... Just a great day to be out at the stadium. Bit if a pity that the baseball game was going on at the same time, but it was still fun.

I don't really know what we have this year with so many changes in both lines. The young DLine looked good, but Charlotte recruited two JUCO OL that aren't there and will probably start. Team looks bigger and faster, but a lot of really experienced players left. Too hard to make predictions.

I did think the QBs looked pretty sharp. Some nice passes thrown tonight. Will also be good to get Trent Bostick back at WR. He's steady & good hands.

Hopefully, based on the spring game today, they hid all of our talent at qb from our opponents next year.
