03-thumbsup nice having one of those in your backyard . . . .

Hard to get excited about the Heart of Dallas Bowl, the Cotton Bowl is too expensive and the Fort Worth Bowl is okay, but having Sun Belt teams would be more appealing to me.

You ever been to Frisco?

It's not Miami but for bowl games purposes it's a better spot.

This bowl had South Florida in it a few years ago and the attendance was 21k. If you can only muster that much with USF there what pair of teams could you get that could really get a nice crowd there?

BTW, where will the MBB be in the selection order? IIRC it has a fairly high pick among the AAC. Don't want to send a 6-6 SBC team over there...we need to beat AAC team in bowls.

It has last pick. The key is though that it is owned by ESPN. You can bet your bottom dollar that ESPN will want an attractive matchup in this game, and there will be enough horse trading done to ensure that one of our top teams gets sent there.

Still, if you think about it, this isn't that bad. Our two weakest bowl tie ins this coming year are tied in with CBSSN, who is going to put 10 times the effort into the broadcast than ESPN will. Our top teams will get the big games and the larger audience.

Not trying to be mean or take sides, but in an era where 5-7 teams go bowling, that is like saying Barry Bonds is a better HR hitter than Babe Ruth or Hank Aaron.

if they want a sellout crowd every year it should be north dakota state vs somebody. their fans must have second homes in frisco because they seem to fill that stadium every year at fcs championship game.

No kidding. Sun Belt West teams will do well here. AAC will if it's a Tulsa, SMU, maybe Memphis if they don't feel slighted

Tulsa brought no fans to last years Miami Beach Bowl. There was about 300 in attendance. Memphis--and maybe even Houston--fans won't go to this bowl. Tulane fans won't either and they don't travel anyway. The dream matchup for this bowl IMHO is either SMU vs Texas St or SMU vs Arky St.

Zillion minus one. Poinsettia shut down for the upcoming season.

The point is GSU has a bunch of bowls in their backyard. TXST and the western schools don't. Before this the closest bowl to San Marcos was in NOLA 10 hours away.

Google Maps says 7 hours 31 minutes. Are you exaggerating to back up your point? Is google that far off in its estimations?

I'd rather this be put in San Marcos. I think a 30K stadium is probably a better fit---20K is pretty small. Halfway between Austin and San Antonio gives travelers more entertaiment options for the trip than Frisco.
