It boggles my mind that some Tulane fans are willing to prostitute the program in order to play LSU. Anything less than 1 for 1 is an insult and totally unacceptible. Because of the new rule that mandates each school to have a minimum of 5 home games the LSU's of the world are finding it increasingly more difficult to schedule rent-a-wins and are being forced to consider 1 for 1's with anyone they seek to schedule. When we become settled in our new conference, the importance of playing LSU will deminish.

I have mixed feelings about playing LSU in football.
Personally it's fun for us, the fans. And that includes LSU fans also. They enjoy the banter and needling as much as we do. Remember the old "push the winner in the wheelbarrow" the day after the game each year? And, let's face it, we have no real rival now. Almost all good rivalries are in-state. Southern Miss is not a real rival. Ask USM fans who they hate the most and we would be third, at best. Ask Tulane fans who they hate the most and it would be 100% LSU. Ask LSU fans who they hate the most and I'm guessing it would be more Tulane than anyone else.
But I get so annoyed at the whole discussion of the politics and greediness involved with trying to schedule games with them that I feel like saying to hell with them, who cares about LSU?
But then, on the other hand, I also think there are other reasons to play them, from a Tulane perspective. For one, I think it would help us recruit in-state. I believe it would also help our attendance, and not just for that one game. I'm pretty sure that we used to have better season ticket sales in the years we would play LSU at home. Probably a combination of Tulane and LSU fans who wanted tickets just to the TU-LSU game would buy season tickets just to get good seats.
Bottom Line: In my opinion, we should make some financial concessions in order to try to make a deal. But in no way should we give in to anything but a one-for-one as far as the location of the game is concerned. If we can get one-for-ones from Texas, Miss State, and other similar programs, we shouldn't give LSU anything more than that.
