I think we will win comfortably @ Miami OH. If they couldn't beat us during Tubbs' swan song season, it's not going to happen.

I'm optimistic about improved enthusiasm, fundamentals and discipline, but weakness at both QB and OL is a BAD combination. Still think we will hit 7-5.

I think we go 7-5 and show improvement over the season. I hate to compare him to Dantonio (because he's white - why else would we compare them!?) but Dantonio's first team wasn't good but you could see their potential as the season went on. The 2017 version of the Bearcats has a lot more talent and I think they're a bowl team. I'm think they start slow but show improvement over the course of the year. I'm really looking forward to the season!

How can you look at the sh!t sandwich we had last year and forcast a winning team and a bowl victory just on the strength of a new coaching staff? It all starts at QB and look at ours. He can't get the ball to 2 (only) really untested WRs. Yes we have Mike Boone but who will block? And what of our defense? Does anyone have any real idea how any of this will play out?

Well, it is all just spitballing at this point. I believe last season's record was a large part due to an absent head coach who quit on his team and the team quit back.
There was no fight once the other team took a lead in the second half or seized momentum in the game. My prediction of 7-5 isn't that far fetched since it wouldn't even get us in the top tier of the conference. I really believe in this coach and I think he's pushing all the right buttons and will get every ounce out of his players unlike in years past. It may be that our offense is more about clock control and an improved, better tackling defense and special teams will keep us close in more games with a chance to win. Again, we're just spitballing. I'm not betting my house on the prediction.....

7-5 is quite reasonable. With a coach last year we likely beat UConn and Tulsa. That makes 4-8 a 6-6. Now add that to a softer schedule and 7-5 seems doable.

You know,,,, if we can get to 6-6, then that is a 50% improvement..
Our concerns are QB and OL... There is a chance Gibson might be the answer or that Ross can get things going,, but is there any chance things can be fixed
on the OL....

First, the previous coach did NOTHING, so far as I can see, to develop talent. So it is hard to really tell what might actually be there. The fall will tell much.

Second, the previous coach was really, really bad at using the talent he did have. From trying to force small backs up the middle, to allowing players to take themselves in and out of the game...there was little strategy to use talent and exploit weaknesses.

The past--hopefully--is gone. It will, hopefully, have little to say about the outcome of next season.

Just what is the talent level Tubbs left behind? That to me is the question. My memory is that the recruiting classes were not well rated. Why would we think he did anything right with the mess he left us?

Hayden Moore holds the team record for single game yards. How bad can he be? In that game he had great receivers. Last year - who knows what we had to throw to. Two years ago I remember saying losing the receiving corp we were going to lose would be a tough challenge. I was trashed.

I submit like others - we have absolutely no idea what to expect.
