7-5, but could easily be 6-6 (my biggest tossup is the UCF game at the moment), though I think we'll be bowling either way.

My way to early predictions

Austin Peay W
@Michigan L
@ Miami OH L
@ Navy L
Marshall W
UCF W
SMU W
@USF L
@ Tulane W
Temple W
@ECU L
UCONN W

7-5 Cats have an awful start to the year and lose the victory bell but protect Nippert all season and pick up a road win at Tulane. In my view the Miami Ohio and Marshall games are two of the biggest games of the year.

This is their best chance to do it in the past 12 years. If they don't do it this year, it will be several more years until they have such a good of a chance. They return an experienced team/we have a young team. Their coach is in his 4th year and it is now all his talent/his system; ours is in his first. Odds are that Martin will leave Oxford to move on to greener pastures this winter. Fickell will be here for at least 2-3 more years if not longer. We are recruiting better talent.

I tend to agree that we are not losing to them. Maybe I am just being a fan, but I am starting to get a sense that this team is going to shock a lot of people this year. I like the attitude I am seeing shine through.

I feel the same way, but I'm not always real objective with my Bearcat fan goggles on. I can't help but look back to the Houston game last year and say that for three quarters UC went toe to toe with one of the best teams in the country. We saw the wheels fall off in the fourth quarter too many times. Was it conditioning, play calling, poor execution on O, D and special teams? I say yes to all and believe CLF and staff will clean up much of these performance killing problems.

One thing's for certain, if the off-season is any indication our team won't be dying in the 4th quarter from and physical conditioning standpoint.

Agree its a combination of all. I would also add in attitude. A lot of people roll their eyes at those corny sports clichés like "Winning is a habit" and all that, but there is a reason why some of those have been around for 50-60 years. A couple of the guys have commented in the past few months and yesterday that last year they did not respond well things didn't go their way. That's and physical and mental conditioning.

This is one hundred percent correct. For the most part, there is very little difference in these division one athletes. There is a very small margin in talent difference. In speed, we are talking about tenths of seconds over a 50 yards, in strength, a few reps on the bench press and squat lift. At this level, it would be an absolute sin for staffs not knowing the xs and os. Even Flubs was aware of this component. This leaves intangibles. Mental preparation and conditioning.

About CLF's stay at Cincinnati.

One of my neighbor's son in law is an Assoc. AD at to$u.

He told me Luke has a 10 year plan at UC, unless a special job was offered. Special jobs are ND (Luke is very Catholic) or to$u. Also said that Luke might never get an HC offer from to$u, but over the top results at UC could change that.

Neighbor is an ND and to$u guy but says Luke is going to be great. TWT.

Every OSU fan I have spoken to about Fickell says he is going to be great. But I take it with a grain of salt - they think that anything and everything related to OSU football or OSU is great.

Intuitively, that all makes sense. Clearly, Fickell is not the type of guy that has made nine moves around the country to climb the college coaching ladder. He seems to value faith and family and Cincinnati is a good place on both counts.

That would be the ideal scenario because we've had those that stuck around and didn't build, and those who built and didn't stick around. Hoping he's the one who creates a program that's built to last.

RE: FB 2017 Predictions
Hopefully the fan base is patient. Obviously if the team struggles with the depth issues, we will always have the bandwagon folks. His recruiting has been so bright that it's been easy for the win/win group to get back in the game. However, i think it's important to stay positive early to continue the recruiting momentum he's built. Butts in the seats always make a difference when recruiting guys.
