Cincinnati and Mississippi State to start home and home basketball series nex...
Love this home and home. State will improve with their very young roster.

Too bad uc women's program can't schedule states women's team.

Wish football could get a home and home too.

Starkville is a nine hour drive from Cincy but a very nice campus to visit. The campus grounds are beautiful. If you go eat at deweys pettys or grumpys. All are great BBQ joints in starkvegas.

Btw miss state modeled their coop program directly after UCs. It was one of uc coop earliest franchises. 😀

It's almost as if that was all just BS Mick made up because he didn't want to play a decent OOC schedule. He upgraded a bit when we left the BE, but now he's taken the unmistakable message of the selection committee that he hasn't upgraded it enough to heart and is finally doing something about it.

Come on. It's not like this is a top Big Ten program is coming in. As others have stated, this is a bad team that is improving. Do you honestly think the IU's and MichSt's are coming if we ask them?

We all saw what Michigan did to us last season right before the season. Stay classy Blue.

I would also love to see a made for TV game with Gonzaga, perhaps at a neutral locaton like St. Louis, Chicago, or KC. Or maybe a one for one, in Seattle and the other either at USBA, Dayton, Columbus, or somewhere like that.

eh Miss St doesn't move the needle much in hoops, but any way you slice it, it's better than a 250+ low major scrub so we have to consider this a nice add to a schedule that isn't easy to make for Mick considering the status of the AAC in the current sports landscape.

Absolutely! Always assume bad faith. Out of one side of his mouth Cronin says it's tough to schedule good games, but then he goes out and reels in the second, OK maybe third best team in all of Mississippi!

Not bad faith; he probably thought that playing a parade of stiffs in the OOC was the best thing for the program. That was a debatable point when we were in the BE, but it's simply ridiculous now. Mick is in the process of adjusting, but it's been slower than many of us would've preferred.

LOL... UC's seed wasn't a reflection of not having a good enough nonconference SOS. UC was 22 in kenpom before the tournament and 22 on the S-curve. They weren't penalized. They were lacking RPI top 100 wins particularly.. I don't really blame them much for that because the conference was down. The committee didn't send any message to UC other than they were seeded about where they were as far as a quality basketball team this year.

Yeah, I don't get the anger over our seeding. You could maybe argue we should have been a 5, but I can't look at any of the top 4 seeds in the tournament and objectively say that we were better than those teams or had a better resume. I do think SMU should have been a 5 seed, but they didn't do anything in the non-conference.

Our basketball cachet is strong enough that we shouldn't have a problem scheduling P5 schools in basketball.

A loss to Cincinnati didn't hurt Iowa State this year, NC State 2 years ago, or Pitt 3 years ago. They all still made the tournament.
