Crawford a Black Bear
Disappointing.
Ole Miss won't be in the tourney next season.

People can make jokes and I can't say I blame them...but I felt like Ole Miss was a NCAA team with next year's roster before this news. Definitely feel like it now.
Really solid squad AK has put together down there. With very little to work with.

I'm thinking if he had been just a regular player in JUCO last year...Markel would have been in the top ten rated JUCOs.
Also, he has a family and maybe wanted to stay close to Memphis.
Anyway. I am happy for his new start.
He is an average D1 basketball player. He's a fine shooter, but not great from three. He's not great at beating his man off the dribble and getting to the rack, but he does have good hops. He doesn't create his own shot often. It's hard to tell how good of a defender he is, b/c as a team we struggled defensively. As others have mentioned, he seems to be inconsistent and disappears at times. Time will tell if the incoming players do an adequate job of replacing him. Relatively speaking, I would expect us to miss Dedric more and have a much harder time replacing him.
yea..I agree. Dedric will be harder to 'replace'. So far we haven't replaced any of our starters.

I think he probably chose Ole Miss to stay close to his family, I don't think they are in a position to be able to travel very far to see him play.

I think he got caught up in the momentum of players leaving and felt like he needed to do so as well. He didn't really improve his situation very much, but he's no longer one of us.

We may not be as top heavy statistically next year, but I don't think KJ is a guy that can't be replaced either. He was a good rebounder, but surely whoever our 3 is next year can shoot 40% from the field. We didn't really have a center last year. I guess we'll see what happens there.

You might be on to something there. I was surprised that Markel decided to leave after the Lawsons did, considering the rumor was that he and KJ didn't get along. Also, he really seemed to be reaching his potential under this staff, and becoming a better player.

We need experienced guys to replace them. So far, that has not happened and does not look so good on the horizon.

It appears the decision was more family-oriented than basketball related, in which case he could've just knocked out one more year at Memphis. Oh, well. Best wishes to him...

When Tubby was asked what kind of players he liked, Markel was not mentioned.
The end.
Congrats to you, Markel, for graduating and finding a place to play the sport you love near the town and people you love!

People can make jokes and I can't say I blame them...but I felt like Ole Miss was a NCAA team with next year's roster before this news. Definitely feel like it now.
Really solid squad AK has put together down there. With very little to work with.
Congrats on the nice pick up.

I don't root for Ole Miss basketball (don't hate em either). Wish Markel was still here.

I was all for wishing him well. Then he went and picked one of only two schools that would cause me not to do so. Oh well.
Enjoy your time at Oxpatch. I hope we play you guys and beat you down like SMU beat you last year.
