AAC basketball scheduling

They do have a pretty good student section that makes funny signs

RE: AAC basketball scheduling
I do want the AAC to try to match top teams twice, but I also don't want it to be so unbalanced that one team has a conference SOS of 30 while another team has a conference SOS of 150. There has to be some balance. Let the top 3-4 teams play each other twice, but spread out the rest.

The problem with that is that Memphis, Temple, and UCONN....teams who invest tons into basketabll but have had bad seasons...will be playing a lower SOS in conference. Makes it more difficult to get back in the tourney.

We have enough good programs that we just keep our scheduling as it is and wait for UCONN, Memphis, and Temple to get back where they historically are. In the meantime, improve OOC SoS.

Since we all play one another, crappy scheduling by one team hurts everyone. You have to understand---RPI is determined 25% by your record, 50% by your opponents record, and 25% by your opponents opponents record. In other words, 75% of your RPI is completely out of your hands once the schedule is set.

Bingo. I'm willing to see ECU penalized if that's what it takes. I'm sick of it.

Do you not want a middle class??? This is how you kill the middle class!

This scheduling only divides the teams further and makes it harder for those that are down to rise back up.

I think some kind of memorandum on ooc scheduling is the least that should be done. We can't have any school with a 300+ ooc schedule rank.

RE: AAC basketball scheduling
I thought this was already settled? Preseason conference rankings. You play the 7 teams closest to you in those rankings two times.

I do like the idea of tying NCAA tournament share payout to non-conference schedule strength. It doesn't even have to be that stringent of a rule. Schedule a team that has averaged an RPI of 250+ for the past 3 years? Boom. $100k less from tournament shares.

agree

Can somebody get Aresco on the phone and discuss it with him? If you need a powerpoint for Webex just let me know. Pony used the money we had set a side for advertising at the Dairy Whip and bought a computer. It just sits in the back room on a stack of napkin boxes unopened. Joeline says computers are from the Devil so everyone is afraid to touch it, but I'd like an excuse to open it up and give it a whirl.
