CUSA baseball RPI update and notes 4-19-17
While looking at several CUSA teams and their RPIs I figured I would post each team's RPI and their remaining outlook. All RPI and games remaining info is from warrennolan as of Wednesday morning (4/19/17):

- USM (29) - 18 games remaining with 9 against top 100. 3 of the 9 games outside top 100 are against Middle Tenn who is 101 while 3 others are against UAB (203)

RE: CUSA baseball RPI update and notes 4-19-17
Looking at those I feel it's realistic to have 10 of the 12 teams in the top 100 by tournament time. Depending on how everything plays out and based on remaining schedules I also feel it's possible to get up to 4 teams in the NCAAs with 3 an almost certainty.

Wow! That would be a weird CUSA tournament if LA Tech, Rice and UAB didn't get in.

It would be an attendance killer for La Tech AND Rice to both miss out. Those were 2 of the better traveling fan bases from last year's tournament.

I don't know how they've healed but I saw a stat week & half ago that 6 of our Top 8 pitchers were nursing injuries. We all know Shoop small ball requires decent pitching. We aren't going to out power teams with hitting very often.

CUSA has moved up to the 6th spot overall, passing the Big Ten

Starkville and Fort Worth would both suck.

If we don't host ourselves (10-15% chance IMO), I'm hoping for Lexington or Winston-Salem.

Tech will get in IMO. Remaining conference schedule is a cakewalk, I think they finish 17-13/18-12 in conference play which should be enough.

FAU/LT and USM/Charlotte not playing each other sucks.

Does that hurt us because those teams don't strengthen their schedule by playing each other, or does it help us because it reduces "cannibalism?"

I think more of the former.

Although, there are circumstances where the latter may be true. If you have several bubble teams playing one another, there's the chance that only one may get in rather than two (eg say FAU lost three one run games in Ruston the last weekend of the season).

Then again, maybe one gets in rather than neither without the RPI boost from playing and beating a good team.

It just depends. But I think more good than bad is likely to come from good teams playing one another.

I know Tech getting that suspended game at ULM was a great thing as they would've been a drag on Tech's RPI

Strictly RPI wise it would help teams at large chances if UAB and WKU don't make the CUSA tournament.....no disrespect to those 2 teams though.

I would be fine with Starkville. I don't buy that State can keep this up. If they do, Cannizaro should be National Coach of the Year.
