Uber EATS
Uber Eats starts today in a few minutes... 10:00.

Over 100 restaurants from all over the area.

I used it in Houston. Cool service. Better than pizza if you are stuck at a hotel working and dont/cant go get food.

RE: Uber EATS
What are the fees compared to places like Chef Shuttle, etc? Or is it based off mileage from your house?

I don't know. They have a separate app from the Rider app.

I haven't seen any rates.

I wonder if the food prices are the same as on the menu.

So there's the cost of the food (possibly with an upcharge if the restaurant charges more for delivery orders) and the cost of the delivery.

I wonder if the Uber mileage charges are the same/more/less as their charges for rides.

Oh, and do they have surge pricing if there's a lot of delivery requests?

Yeah, a lot of questions. However, if you are craving something bad enough, I guess it's worth it!

And I bet it's pretty darn convenient.

RE: Uber EATS
I just downloaded the app...they have quite a few options that the other services like Chef Shuttle don't. A few of the same old ones too.

They deliver from an indian restaurant to my house, which might be problematic for my budget.....I also have a $15.00 promo code on my account, too, looks like.

The prices aren't bad. We used to have a service like this in Austin called Eat Out In. And they took forever and charged a huge mark up. This isnt nearly that bad. Its pretty quick and the fees werent that bad when I did it in Houston.

Uber EATS
Looks like it's $5.00 and no tipping, like Uber's transportation model. I'll give it a go at some point.

$5 flat fee? No distance-based pricing?

That would be great also if you are sick or too slammed with work to even go to the grocery, like I was since last fall. Do all Uber drivers have to do this? I haven't heard of my BF mentioning it yet.

Nope; it's just a flat charge. Not bad at all. You CAN tip the driver in addition to the fee, however (I doubt the driver gets much, if any, of it.)

Nope; it's a whole separate app, but you can sign into it using your existing uber account. I doubt anyone HAS to do it, but it's available if they want to.

I have used Chef Shuttle numerous times and it is good.

They deliver in less than an hour and if they are super busy they give you a time they can deliver so you can change plans instead of waiting too long. It is kind of local so I will give it the nod over UBER eats.

We didn't get that kind of service from chef shuttle last time we used them, so I've been loath to try again. We waited over 90 minutes for our food, and when it arrived, it was the wrong order. Even after tweeting & calling, no amends were made.

This is the big difference between UBER and LYFT.

We've been using this place for 2-3 years. Used it last night as a matter of fact...
