Yup. A while. Looking forward to it (finishing my master's at Drexel right now).

RE: 2017-18 Schedule
I guess over the past 5 years, we are 4-1 against the Ivy and 1-3 against non-D1 schools, so I suppose one could say the local team swap of Arcadia for Penn is making our schedule more challenging.
Actually I think it is a shame not to have Penn on the schedule. It just seems like two teams that are that close should play. It would be interesting to know the reasoning behind the game not happening.

Agreed. Drexel/Penn needs to happen every year.

But if you're going to have it, it has to take place while school is in session, unlike the past 2 years when it was on winter break. 2 years ago, there was nobody at the DAC. Last year, there was a nice crowd of boy scout troops and other youth groups (because unlike Drexel, Penn actually seems to make an effort to market to get people into the seats). However the atmosphere last year was nothing compared to the years when you'd see 2,000 yellow shirt on the baseline.

RE: 2017-18 Schedule
I think Temple and Lasalle is just as good as having St Joes and Penn on the schedule. Yes I know about the rivalry and I love it but Temple for basketball is a much better team to watch. We will Probably have Penn on the schedule next year.

Oh I'm sure it has to do with where the game is played. Guessing the SJU game was due to "political" reasons of our hiring Spiker.
Yet another year of sticking a non-D1 school in the season ticket package...

The Arcadia game is basically a free game. STH's pay for 13 home games and get a DIII game free. And where else is Division I basketball can you get a chairback seat that close to the court for $15.38/ticket?
I enjoyed watching the Kean game last year. It was nice to see some other faces on the court that game. And even though Kean was probably about as good as an average top level high school team, it was still nice to see Drexel blow somebody out for a change, which has been a rare site at the DAC lately.
Comparing the Men's and Women's schedules this year, I'm a little bummed that there are no doubleheaders this year. I like driving down to the DAC one time to see 2 games and get the women's game for free.

RE: 2017-18 Schedule
Based on a interview with Spiker that I recall from last year, I think the non-D1 games are likely to show up most years. If I remember right, he likes the opportunity to see different things (players, player combinations, plays) in a game situation that you might not want to try, at least initially, against tougher competition.
Not that schedule strength is important to us given the OOC schedule, but if it does more down the road, I don't believe these small school games factor into that.

I thought that issue went away with Penn's new AD. I think Spiker also indicated he didn't think that playing at the Palestra was that big of a deal. That's why I was kind of surprised to see it go.

RE: 2017-18 Schedule
I think a good thing about this schedule is that all but three of the home games are when classes are in schedule. Of those Quinnipiac is the Monday after finals (so perhaps a few students might be hanging around especially after our victory over Temple a few days prior) and W&M is the day before classes restart.
The conference schedule does get off to a tough start @Elon, @UNCW, and CoC. Charleston and Elon should be two of the top teams and while it is a bit of a mystery what UNCW will be after the changes there, they are the 2x defending champs.
