Tubby will "coach up" the inexperienced and mediocre talented current roster like he did the final two games from last season.
It's definitely a bummer that Hardy doesn't seem to be coming anymore, but then again you knew that. What team do you root for?
The University of Memphis, my undergrad alma mater, is my favorite school. The Memphis Tigers are my favorite team and any other team I root for lags very far behind. I hold season tickets in football and basketball and contributie to the TSF and capital campaigns despite living in Nashville. I wear Tiger gear often and usually when I run. You will be hard pressed to find a more ardent defender of the Tigers and the City of Memphis than me in my orange hued area.
In sum, I root for the Memphis program.
So because you've determined that Tubby isn't the right man for the job, you would rather him fail and fail hard so we can get this over with as quick as possible? I'm just trying to understand your logic.
Personally I'm not sure if TS can get the job done either, but I still want the Tigers to do well. Because my desire for Memphis to succeed (now) trumps my opinion of whether or not Tubby is the right guy, naturally I want Tubby to do well here. If he stinks it up, I doubt we will suffer that long under his watch.
I want Tubby to win and win big. I merely express that results to date do not indicate future success at the standard expected of Tiger coaches.
If you want him to win and win big, why not give him a chance to do so? With his own players, his own scheme, and doing it his way. This year will represent the start of that. We knew coming in that there was going to be a rebuild.
All perspectives and opinions are welcome on this forum. BUT-- to me, as a fan (not as a moderator), it doesn't make sense to publicly post things that tear down our current coach, players, commits, and recruits.
It's great that you buy season tickets and support with your dollars. But by publicly-- and repeatedly-- cultivating an image of certain failure and an atmosphere of hopelessness and doom-and-gloom, don't you think it's possible that
others might be
discouraged from purchasing tickets, or supporting with their dollars? Or even that recruits who visit this forum (and they most certainly DO) might be dissuaded from committing? How self-defeating is that? I know that you would not knowingly aspire to a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure.
Again, as a moderator, my position is that you're free to have positive or negative positions. But as a fellow fan, I just don't see how it helps anything, and it may in fact HURT something, to be so negative all the time.
